So what do we think now? At the start of the season it was generally either 'play offs' or safe mid table...what is the general feeling now? AllHell
Playoffs, I think I said that at start of season too, we had a bit of a rut but we'll make the playoffs or at least be very very close, however I will probably get lynched but I'm not wanting straight promotions because I can see it going awfully wrong, our squad simply isn't ready yet :/ but never know, if we go up and have money to spend fair enough and I will happily be proved wrong
11th, would be very happy with that too. Would be embarassing if we got promoted, we'd struggle to beat Derby's tally of 11 points, need another 2 years at this level IMO before we're ready for the Prem.
A lot of getting carried away going on here chaps! We have done very well in the last fortnight but there are still some fundamental issues. Things are on the up but I'd still take a guaranteed 20th if offered. I hope and think we will finish 16th or 17th or thereabouts. Higher than that is possible but will be a significant achievement
i wouldnt back your horses on Frimpong being a season long deal his loan expires in Jan and Arsenal have only loaned him out for a fitness boast and he'll be back at arsenal, As a Millwall fan im not here for banter, We like to see Charlton do well, (obviously not to well enough to finish above us ha ha) i think 10th is a good finish for the Addicks but next season is the big one guys
You may find the club's finance officers hold a different view. It is not just about your losing face at work or bragging rights with your West Ham supporting neighbours. If we go up, and straight down again, we would probably show a healthy profit, including parachute money, that could be used to used to strengthen the team for another try. It is the second year up that is the hard one when contracts expire and players start expecting Premiership wages. The other factor is that if a team doesn't go up when it has the chance, there is no guarantee that that chance will come round again in the foreseeable future. I was reading about some team in the Conference (was it Cambridge Utd?) who missed promotion to the top tier by a whisker, but then started a long slide down the league structure. Mind you, I have plumped for a 15th place finish, so this discussion may be irrelevant. In this division, you never know though, because there aren't two teams which are clearly Premiership standard. With Palace top and Cardiff second anyone can fancy their chances.
Reckon playoffs. Mid-last month Millwall was sitting 21-22 and after a run of wins are only two points off playoffs. We're only 5 points off. If we keep this run up, we'll be edging closer, and seeing Kermorgant is on his way back, and Wiggins, means that we should have a stronger team.
Did Hell Ben-t on Bradley Pritchard really vote that we would be involved in a relegation fight? He is entitled to hold that view, but it just seems at odds with his usual cheerful and optmistic posts. Or did he accidentally press the wrong button?
