Wins for Posh this evening and Dirty Weeds tomorrow will keep us in the top ten. Can't see either happening though
Doesn't matter - we are just one point off top six and at worst will be two points off - more important than actual league positions at the moment
Deserved to win that..should have scored more (Hogg needs to sort out his shooting) but a bit like against Leicester we had to hold on a bit. Rare mistake from Almunia for the Wolves goal but generally defended well again and dangerous on the break. Didn't look like we had a man advantage at times though...
Two games in a row affected by a red card. The game seemed to be going nowhere with Wolves having all the possession until that moment. Looked like it might be Millwall all over again. I don't like 11 v 10 but we seem to be able to handle it though we made it more difficult than it should have been. Chelobah was back to his best in the first half...silky skills and good passing. Forestieri showed his competitive side in the second half, winning the ball back in unlikely situations. It may have been said before and I missed it but his nickname in Spanish is 'The Mole'...I can see where they're coming from! The most pleasing thing today was the movement...quick and into space giving the passer plenty of options which, sadly, weren't always taken. It was probably one of those days when quite a few chances fell to the wrong player. Credit Hogg for getting forward well but he's not a goalscorer. The defence had a fairly relaxing day but cleared the ball well when put under pressure. Can't complain about three more points, but it should have been easier...
Well that was interesting. The sending off was one of the best bits of officiating this season. Deeney was clean through and the defender grabbed his arm and held him back. It was a clear goalscoring opportunity and therefore the last man had to go. Up till then, the game had see-sawed and looked like being a good spectacle. Unfortunately we did not make the most of the space and were slightly slower than I would like when we passed and broke. But 3 points were key, now on to blackpool where we aim to end the month unbeaten.
I thought it was a bit of a soft red (clearly a foul and under the letter of the law a red, but one of those you'd be fuming about if it were your defender), but we've had more of those go against us than for over the season so far. As for Hogg, once that first one goes in I'm sure he'll go through a relative hot streak for a defensive midfielder. Think Andrew Taylor rather than Lloyd Doyley. It seemed a busier than it has been for most of the season. The away end was pretty full though.
Hear here. If are worried about matching Millwall over the remaining 29 games, then this season is probably too soon for us to take that next step. The gap between the Premier League and Championship may prove so big that the playoff winners end up spending a few years as a yo-yo club, but I don't want us to go up until we are at least in a position to compete for survival. It may be that we're competitive but not quite good enough, like Blackpool, but much better that than what we had to endure the last two times we reached the "promised land".
North.you'll be delighted(!) to know I agree with your sentiments, very level-headed attitude. Not one to suggest that accolades are thrown around too easily these days, but if Wooter ? and Payne (as many question marks as you like) are '''Legends''' the likes of Jennings, Bond,Jenkins, Blissett, Eddy,Walley,Bolton,Barnes,Young must have all been Popes & nobody told us.
