Fingers crossed it works out for them, we need the south coast rivalry as there isnt an atmosphere that comes anywhere close to a derby game - love them! Be great if we could get Pompey in a FA Cup game at SMS - & on TV. Given them a good pocket full of cash and all of us a great day out Good luck Pompey and hope it goes well
So the PDT now seem to be moving forward with the speed of a striking slug and might, just might get something sorted by Christmas. Depends on whether they can hoodwink the judge into letting them pay what they want to pay for the Fat Pipe arena. Trouble is though the cat is out of the bag as the land around the said super arena is up for grabs, one without the other = pretty worthless, the two together is a whole different ball game. What was it Chinny keeps on saying, "I am secured, I will get my money back".
Thank you Hermanator, you have put all that much clearer than its appeared in the media or even what I've heard PST senior bods say. I would question the initial season ticket fees etc as what has the club been using to pay the current operating costs? I presume the Trust will accept the -10 point from the football league when out of admin this season? Or will they try to draw it all out so it gets "lost" over the summer? One of the Trust bods was speaking about how it was crucial to have the takeover all done by the "crucial january transfer window" which does perhaps give unrealistic expectations that they want to spend some money early doors to perhaps appease some fans who havn't yet invested (although it may just as well put some fans off if they think spending is wrong) Did amuse me that much has been made of "being the biggest fan owned club". I think perhaps being the "best" is a better thing to aim for, although I fully appreciate the Pompey sensibilities when it comes to their fascination with "size"! Found it interesting that Exeter have over 3,000 pledging fans to their trust, I believe as it stands, Pompey have 1,800? I'm sure more will come forward once things are stabilised... or will they?
You can be loyal and not have any spare money! Also there are the fans like Lapras, who are not willing to put money in while there is still the chance that Chanrai could take over. When the PST takeover is done and dusted I'd expect there to be more.
I think every-one accepts that the -10 is going to happen this season, which effectively puts us joint bottom with Hartlepool, on 8 points; another 8 adrift of S****horpe, who would move up to 20th, on 16. Whoever takes the helm [or if Corporal Punishment stays in charge] his one brief for the season will be to keep us out of League Two. The consolidation and recovery can then start next term. The best case scenario I can see is stay up this season, consolidate next season and make a push for the playoffs in 2014-15.
Depends what the price is for a share at Exeter. For a full share here it is £1000. A lot of money for anyone. Questions were asked as to why it wasn't lower at say £100, but simply put, we needed to raise millions, not thousands and clearly we have done so. Also take into account that because not everyone can afford a full share, many many people have joined syndicates pledging what they can afford until it reaches the magic 1k. I'm part of one myself. It's only £20 but was all I could afford at the time (and i want a motorbike). this bumps up the amount of people financially supporting the cause by a lot. I'm not sure of the exact numbers of syndicates, but if the truebluearmy.com syndicates are anything to go by then your looking at at least 10 people fer syndicate. One of them had over 20 people in it. We'eve even had two stripeys chucking a few quid our way on teat site. Only a tenner each but we need all we can get and we were very grateful on there. As it stands, 5 syndicates have been completed on truebluearmy.com. 5 grand just on that site. And the 6 one is up and running. P.S 1900 full shares with more coming in.
Idea - to give our favourite neighbours a hand, why dont we loan them some of our fringe players - gets the players competitive games, reduces our wage bill (although I assume we would probably have to pay part of the wages) and help keep them in L1 after they have 10 pts deducted. Would make me laugh to think of the Skates cheering on some Saints players!
We would probably have to pay all of the loanee's wages. I believe that is the deal that they have struck with other parent clubs in the last year. On a positive note, our players wouldn't need to move house.
Takes a long time to heal the wounds of the past. Harsh reality of this saga is that many fans who were regulars, have stopped going because of the last 4 years. They've got out of the habit of getting up and having a big fookin breakfast, getting on the shant and taking that walk down to Fratton. Remember we as fans have been robbed, seen our club passed around like a drugged hooker, seen people actively and openly try to liquidate the club. Fans don't forget things liike that quickly even if there is a new regime. I'll be honest and say that a couple of times I've though "whats the point", my money ain't going to the club. While we know now that it is, people have found other things to do on a Saturday at 3pm. It's gonna take a long time to get them back, along with convincing the next generation to come down the park and sing there hearts out for the 11 on the pitch. TBH after the ****e that's gone on over the last 4 years I'm surprised we're still in 5 figure attendances.
Goodness me, change the bloody record CBK. There's something Freudian about your obsession with big attendance figures, compensating for something perhaps?
Afternnoon PL! TBF I'm surprised if the PST are really going to have a genuine shot at taking over that crowds aren't at least around 15k.
The momentum got lost - remember when Portpin first pulled out? The attendance that week shot up to 18,000+ and the enthusiasm around the City was incredible. But within days Chanrai was back and even more people walked away. I think the majority won't be back until the deal with PST is done and dusted and they know Chanrai is completely out of the picture.
Lapras CBK raises a very valid point, if you are going to become a supporter owned club surely you need the support!! Without the fans going through the turnstiles revenue takes a hit. I dont know how much a ticket is but lets say they are £10 and your support is 7,000 down then you are missing out on at least £70,000 a game thats not taking into consideration programme sales and food and drink. You actually need to start packing the park and generating revenue for the club to exist. I appreciate most fans dont have the £1000 to become part of the trust so input your money by buying a ticket each week!
So the last 4 years don't even out the previous 4 years of "good times"? Hasn't football always been about the rough with the smooth and as I've said countless times, its always been my perception of Pompey fans (from knowing a few) that they revel in hardship and never happier than in a crisis. I can understand the lack of enthusiasm for modern football in general by the "old school fans", but it maybe appears those who came along in the Prem years weren't made of the thickest of moral fibre and have deserted even quicker than they arrived?
Trust me CBK, the last 4 years has completely destroyed any good feeling from the 4 years before that. As I've said it will take time for those deep deep cuts to heal. People don't take kindly to being stolen off from something that is meant to represent their pride in the city. Whilst the ownership may soon be about to change, you can't changed what has happened. At least wait till the PST have taken over. Wait until Chanrai has truly been sent on his way. Then judge hte gates.
