And what exactly has OXO done for Arsenal so far? He's been very average for us this season, so don't go around throwing names like they've proven something. I like OXO, I think he will become a good player, but please oh please don't name drop him as a world class player yet, because that's what I'm talking about, over hyped young English players that are supposedly world class. As for Walcott, it took him more than 5 seasons till he started coming good.
Just a couple of things wrong with this post: 1. Oxlade-Chamberlain never played in the championship, he only had League 1 experience when we signed him and 2. Getting an England call up nowadays hardly makes you good. Roy Hodgson's a complete cretin and calls up people like Leon Osman and Tom Huddlestone. I can tell you now that Wilfried Zaha is not worthy of a call up or a place near the Arsenal team.
People are only creaming themselves over him because he had a couple of good games where he got 2 goals in them I reckon. Theo scored a hattrick for England, but he was still **** for ages after. As for Mark Bright, like you say I take it with a pinch of salt. He has a habit, like Don Goodman, of vastly overrating players.
I think that's very disrespectful. Hodgson is a gentleman and respected across Europe. Why shouldn't Osman and Huddlestone get called up? I think Huddlestone is crap too but who better is available? Zaha is a player who makes things happen. Obviously it's all just potential for now but when a load of players can't be arsed to play in this game then there's no harm in getting a lad involved who genuinely looks like being twice the player of Walcott or Lennon some day. He's not ready to play week in week out for a team like Arsenal now but if Ramsey and Gervinho are getting a game on the wings then this guy would be an improvement I assure you.
Don't worry most will change their tune if he goes to Manu and makes it big! On a serious note neglecting potential based on lack of trophies is very narrow minded. Every club does it but arsenal stand out due to Lack of success. Someone should seriously check out fulhams youth team. Zahas an arsenal fan and we could use more Loyal players in the team who are willing to fight and make things happen.
I'm growing to the idea of Zaha, but not for 15m. Theo took a few years to come good, but he's still ONLY 23!! If he signs, he's got 7 years at least of consistently performing. He's adding to his game every season. People are frustrated because he's been at the club so long, and they forget that most players are barely breaking into the first team at his age. Oxo is the same, he's still young. He needs another 2 or 3 years before he's trained, consistent and able to perform every week. Judging him at his age is understandable as he's been with the team a while, but he's still learning. The problem that both have, is that they're expected to perform because there are no players above them in the pecking order for them to learn from and occassionally fill in for as there are in most teams.
I like Roy as a guy, he seems like a top bloke, but as England manager he is very clueless. The tactics he employs for the England team are testament to that. And I disagree completely with the second part of your post too. Gervinho is twice the player of Zaha and in fact both are similar in their styles anyway, so what would be the point in having another Gervinho? Ramsey, I can see your point but again, I think there are probably wingers out there with more potential than Wilfried Zaha. I may well be wrong and he may be a world beater, but as of yet I'm certainly not convinced. You seem to be forgetting that with team Gazidis we spent that much on a 17 year old from League 1 (who despite being good, we could certainly have got for cheaper if not for awful negotiating). Zaha would easily cost us around that much as well, which is hefty for a completely unproven player.
No I would rate Zaha higher than Gervinho already. He's physically a bit more powerful. Both need to work on their finishing though.
Bit strange, Gervinho's not exactly been terrible. His finishing and decisions are a bit dire but then so are Zaha's. Gervinho has proven he can beat players at this level while Zaha can only show off fancy tricks in the champioship. They're also roughly the same height and weight so power isn't really an issue. Seems to me like a case of bring in a new player for no reason from some fans.
I wasn't big on this idea but I've just watched an interview with Ian Holloway on the BBC website and he's raving about him. Apparently he's the best young prospect Holloway has seen in his entire career...
Sheesh louise, at the start, most fans on here were saying they don't really want Zaha, and then, AFTER SO MUCH HYPE about him in the past few days, everyones starting to sing his tune, and the irony is that Arsenal fans then go on about oh how young English players are always so overhyped, yet you guys are more than happy to lap up that hype now! You literally couldn't make that up, so funny. So you don't like it when young English players are overhyped but suddenly some of you are changing your minds and wouldn't mind seeing Zaha at Arsenal, why? Based on the HYPE he's been getting recently! LOL.
Wouldn't mind him, now I've listened to Holloway talking about him & seen more of him. I still don't think he's worth the money being talked about. I'm in favour of any young player that carries a low price tag & has potential. I'm not in favour of big money on potential.
Well his low price tag is gone, he's been called up to the national squad, he's being greatly overhyped, and he's English, he will cost 15 million.
Not strange, Gervinho has alot of good qualities but mentally he is'nt all there. The thing that stops Gervinho being World Class is a complete lack of composure. Much like Eboue if he thinks about what he's doing he will generally 'sky' the shot or mis-hit the pass. I'm sure in training where there's no pressure he looks TOP class. But at 26 its very unlikley he's going to be able to change this. Zaha on the other hand has that confidence that all the TOP players seem to have.
I see what you mean, but I'm not sure if age is a factor in it, but it is starting to get wearing waiting for his confidence to grow that's for sure.
Still not sold on Zaha, not sure Holloway can be trusted as a good judge of talent, he's never really had any top players at his disposal.
I think this confirms we are in for him http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...a-will-be-subject-of-arsenal-transfer-1459038
