Maybe you can see now from Spurcat's post that there is more than meets the eye to the Lloris situation. It's worth bearing in mind in all our comments about the managers performance that we do not see the whole picture. Behind the scenes there are always things going on that effect team selection. It's therefore quite a good idea not to be too dogmatic in your criticism of the managers selection of players. You could end up looking just a little silly.
I doubt he'll be able to Roo, its not feasible to err...elaborate! on a public forum, we all have to make do with that...if you think about it. Its enough to suggest unrest behind the scenes. My guess is that HL is quite stupid, allowing his French counterparts to waffle away in the French media. I think Lloris has some childish notion that if we think he might leave, we'll drop Brad....wrong! He should realise that its doing him or the club no favour at all and is publicity we could all do without as its for the wrong reasons. If it were me I would ask my Int. manager to not comment anymore, as it is bound to have a negative affect on my situation at my new club, but he's chose to say nothing, and he's done nothing to get the fans on his side...nothing.
Fair comments as usual Roo We'll never agree on Lloris' treatment that's for sure. I still say it's unacceptable, and that he should have been in the team for the Chelsea game without doubt, and from then on in it's been unacceptable. For me I wanted Brad shifted from the number one spot in the summer, so I don't see what the difficulty would have been at all had we got Lloris in early enough. That we didn't was ENIC's fault (again, but different story). Okay given that Hugo came in late, fair enough give him a couple of weeks bedding in time. But the Chelsea game was the absolute one he should have started. Now I'm picking up from a requoted post in this thread that there's trouble at Lodge with Hugo. This is no surprise whatsoever, and exactly what I and others have been warning and worrying about. The captain of France will of course be fuming about what he's been put through by AVB, and remember in his own country they are absolutely flabbergasted at what's going on, and he'll be getting all the humiliating comments from there fed back to him, and doubtless doubled. The French perception was that he'd joined a club 'below his station' and must be using us to move onto bigger things. Now he can't even get into the side of a club ranked 30th in Europe, is just unbelievable for many of them, and I'm sure it is for Hugo too. If there is now crap going on between AVB and Hugo the fault lies entirely with the manager. I repeat again, what is the truth about this story about Brad being given the nod for the Chelsea before or around about the time of the Villa game. IF this story is true, then the situation looks like an utter disgrace and as I've said before, I wouldn't blame Lloris for putting in a transfer request on the back of it. Perryman Legend called it 'bloody stupid' or some such expression for me talking about Hugo leaving the club the other day. Normally I wouldn't bother with another poster after them having a go at me like that, but I like and respect PL so I let it ride. I, of course replied (smoke gets in your eyes, sorry old song joke , that far from being stupid it was an entirely reasonable comment by me, and now it looks like it might be a very shrewd and insightful one indeed. Re Ade and Togo, I don't know what's been going on. I'm afraid I've lost faith in AVB now, so I almost don't care what the truth is now, but I still don't get it.
How typical of some one who hasn't a clue to think that Lloris's apparent bad attitude has only just started, I wonder if he has proof the Frenchman hasn't been difficult from day one, swanning in here like he should be treated like royalty. The poster has decided its the managers fault anyway regardless...
Talking of dogmatic comments! Is that in YOUR opinion GH10 or do you have inside knowledge that the rest of us are not aware of?
Lloris dominates the threads again! From what I've seen the general consensus is that it's now time for Hugo's chance to shine. Admittedly I wanted him in earlier but it is getting to a point where you have to question as to why AVB doesn't seem to rate him (or atleast that's the impression I get). I've said that I feel Friedel hasn't been at his best this season either so why Lloris hasn't had a proper chance in the league yet is puzzling. If what Spurcat said is true though and Lloris is causing a fuss and not putting a shift in at training then he's only got himself to blame.
In any case he has come from the French league and will need time to step up to the PL. He also has to get used to the training standards expected at a top club like Spurs. What was the phrase? Cheese eating surrender monkeys? something like that.
HI SOS, it is all puzzling. Lloris will continue to be a major talking point, because I've never known anything like it in the 52+ years I've been supporting Spurs. Never before have I known such a high-profile big money signing shunned to this extent. As for whose fault it is if Lloris is now playing up, it's AVB's 100%. He will now begin to reap the whirlwind that he has sown and to be frank, I hope it forces AVB out of the club. Levy must be absolutely furious over what he's done to the highest ranked player that ENIC have ever signed.
With keepers there can be arguments for and against as to whether they should come straight into the team or not. We threw Gomes straight in and his first season for us was shocking at times. I remember the guys on MOTD taking the mic out of Cesar as he was No.2 to Gomes and they were joking by saying how bad could he be if Gomes was getting the nod over him. De Gea is another example, the fact he was filling one of the worlds best keepers boots made it a lot harder for him to succeed but even now, teams do their best to knock high balls into the box knowing that he doesn't like the pressure from forwards trying to beat him aerially. That said, over recent years there's been examples of keepers coming in and straight away impressing: Cech and Vorm have come from inferior leagues and yet looked season pros of the Prem in their debut seasons. Cesar for QPR so far looks great, even though he was already established (similar to Lloris in fairness) as a top keeper prior to joining.
No problemo. When you're as bored as me at work, writing in depth replies/ posts is actually exciting! I know... I know...
SD, I wish. I'm afraid I'm a 60+ bloke who hasn't got 1% of Lloris' money or looks, or hair on his head either. one thing's for sure though, I know a lot more about Spurs than Lloris does, and I can tell you that we've never have had a new big-money signing treated so badly by the manager in the past 50 years, and probably not in the past 100 either.
GH10, fair enough with your comments. you obviously feel very strongly about the matter and of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I guess this is what makes this board so bloody good! I just hope for your sake with such emotion towards Lloris that when he does start playing more regularly, he really impresses to the point where we're saying "how on earth did we leave him out". Any signs of "dodgy keeper" and I can see you getting a grilling from a few people on here!!
