As I've been unable to find any official club news on Jonas' condition, this comes from Twitter.

Jonas' sister (@Eushiguti) was asked how he is, and she replied "well he can't play for 6 or 8 weeks."

I'm unsure if that's how long it'll be before he's back or before he can train again, but it looks like another Long-term injury we could've done without.

This is annoying, whilst I do think Jonas flatters to deceive at the top of the pitch the hard work he puts in allows Santon to get forward and it is always good to have depth. Also it means Obertan is more likely to play, which nobody wants.

We can do without any injuries at all, never mind to one of our key players.

Jonas has been **** recently. It will give Anita and Bigi a chance at least.

How dare you, how double dare you speak of our captain like that?

Anyway, I seem to remember it's not so long ago you were saying the same kind of thing about Anita.

For **** sake!!!!!! This is Pardews fault for playing him out of position all season if you ask me.

He has struggled every game and had no time on the ball and he's had to stretch for the ball in a more combative area of the field. This season is getting away from us through suspension, injury and above all a for change of tactics from the tactics that got us to 5th last season.

I feel this one might be a blessing in disguise, assuming we don't have more longterm injuries right away and Tiote comes back as himself.

Jonas has been shot all season, his running hasn't been the same. He's not central midfielder, I'd rather see him as right or left back tbh. But Ideally he should be playing ahead of Santon covering Santon and giving him room to move upfield. Either way, Jonas should get a long rest and recharge his batteries.

With Perch out we're ofc woefully short of cover. Where's Gosling? Still injured? How about our young guys? Mehdi and Amalfitano?

We really need Obertan adn Marveaux to step up and contribute more. They're better players than 5 minutes on the pitch. They should be given half an hour at least, or a start here or there, especially against the smaller teams. I still feel our squad, overall is much stronger than it was a couple of years ago. We still have Gael, Anita, Tiote and Cabs, Perch can't be that bad can he? He's had two weeks. Worst comes to worst Colo will have to play in CM?

In fairness when you come to think of it we have quite a large squad now. We used to have Germi and Alan Smith for cover, remember? Lighten up.

Actually I've always defended Anita. The only negative thing I've said about him is that some of his performances were poor, but he's still get used to the pace.

But I've always pointed out his good attributes. Jonas being out will give other players a chance.

I too rate Anita and think he just needs time. I would love to see him or Bigi come in and play with Tiote or Cabaye with Ferguson and Benny on the wing. I still think it is a shame however, as realistically I would never want any player to get injured or suspended, thank god it isn't one of the cb's getting injured because we then would be up a certain creek.

It pains to say this but I agree with Tash. I love Jonas and he covers a lot of ground but with no end product.

I heard he had broke his pony tail in two places. Could be out for the season. Split ends have been removed in a delicate operation.

I have to say i have been very quiet of late. Smug in the glow of last season. But the smuggishness has to stop. We need to stand up and have our bits and bobs counted. My bits and bobs have been silently rotating for a year. My points, posts. rep. level, accomplishment etc has suffered while all have passed me by. Probably forgotten in my slumber.
Talking about slugs. I thought snails would be faster without their shells. But they appeared more sluggish.

Geremi had no legs left but my he could cross, pick a long pass, take a free kick and corners with the best of th em. Wouldn't go a miss right now. Our set plays have been so pour under Pardew. Have we scored more than Ba's header vs (I think Blackburn) last season from set plays? Cabaye free kicks apart.

If only this was hockey and you could bring players on for 2 minutes at a time eh.

Certainly a blow but hopefully the rest will see him discover his best form. Patience required on Anita. We won't know about him till next year. I have been told his missus gave birth before he signed and she has remained in Holland with the baby. As a father I can imagine that is a unsettling. Football is a physical and mental game.

I can't confirm if this true though as just a bit of chit chat from a lad I know

I think its true about Anita, and its definately true that it will take him a year to settle in. I can't think of many bar Tiote that have made an immediate impact when joining from abroad.

I too agree with Tash l. This will force pardew to change what we've been begging him to change anyway. Worrying thing is he might we give Obertan more of a shot and I've pretty much gave up on the kid

I'm hoping Pardew starts giving the role to Fergie or Sammy

<ok> While he is hot. Young lads tend to blow a bit hot and cold so cash in now.
