Everyone should realise people on all sides did things they shouldn't and many innocent people from all sides died. Time to leave all that in the past and progress peacefully. Truthfully though I think there'll always be a small minority to cause trouble.

This! Of course there will. It has less and less to do with a united Ireland and more to do with bigotry and hatred these days. A united Ireland would financially cripple the entirety of that island (North and South) and no-one from either side want that (regardless of what they stand for politically) the scum who're attempting to drum up terror are no better than the extremist far right or fundamentalist Islamic clerics in this country - they spread hate to breed hate and build power!

    Well thank you guys.

Some of the younger ones will not know owt about it as we now have the Good Friday agreement in place.

When I was a youngun however, I was coming home from school to watch the news & witnessing the IRA atrocities.
Hell, I know the loyalists did the same but they never did it to my country.

The Provo's brought the battle to the main land.
Warrington & the London pub bombings.
    Guilford & Birmingham.

When I was over there, there was only one section of the community throwing stones at me & it wasn't the proddy's.

James McClean can suck my cock because if it were not for the very people he depsises, he would not have that freedom of choice to do what he did.

Well Billy lad, you know my view, things get said, people get rilled and it just escalades into choas..water of a ducks back.

I tend to try and keep away from the NI talk, as it always decends into a slanging match..

I have my own personal views, as i was probably there myself around the same time as you, guess it's just one part of my life, i try to keep quiet about now.

Are we NEVER going to let this rest?

The British did unacceptable things to the native population before the Republic of Ireland was established. The majority of people there seem to have banished these to history and got on with things. The troubles in Northern Ireland are much more recent and it as a result the wounds are still healing. They will not do so if they are continually re-opened no matter which side of the divide you are on.

Whilst it is easy for the likes of me who has never been faced with the situation Billy D was in to say "forget it", please remember where McClean was brought up, dammed if he didn't by some on here, and dammed if he did in his former neighborhood so he was, and is, in a very difficult place. While Billy's feelings are understandably generated by the situation he found himself in, McClean had the opposite. He has kept his own council and I am assuming he stood for the minutes silence prior to the match as I have not read anything to the contrary.

    Time to let it rest.

No bother fella, i went several times, not as early as 83, though..

88 was the worst tour i done there, won't harp on, but that was a hectic time....

I understans it can play on your mind, but guess everyone is different, i just let it go now, and have now and previously many a good friend from both sides of the divide in that country..i don't take it personally now,
