If we scrape a draw against Southampton, Hughes will get more games in which to leave us further adrift. Any sacking further down the line will be too late for us. But if we lose to Southampton, he'll definitely be gone, Harry could be in by Monday morning which would be the turning point in terms of giving the team an instant lift and renewed self-belief. I never thought I'd say this, but a defeat on Saturday could be the best thing to happen to us all season. Anyone else prefer a defeat to a draw?
No need to speculate ! Three heavenly points against the Saints coming on Saturday, no if buts or maybes !
This is a tough one, just seen the Stoke game in full and at no point did I think we were 2nd best. Last year we scored 3 goals but were mullered in the second half. The decision making in the final third was woeful but other than that and with a bit of luck we more than deserved a point. I don't quite get the Diakite love fest either, he's still far too rash and doesn't impose himself. Would prefer to see Mbia there when next available as he has that more physical presence. What was a shame, was to see the constant bickering, this has to be cut out and quickly. I've resigned myself to the fact that Tony wont sack Hughes, primarily because of the massive amount of money it would cost. Tony strikes me as an honourable man who believes that Hughes would step down if it was the right thing. Sorry Tony, you're going to be wrong on that one. Hughes knows a next Premiership gig is going to be a long time in coming and TV work isn't his thing, so this could be his last big pay day as well. It all takes on far too great a remblence to 95/96 all over again. We may well need those points so no, let's pray for a win and hope it's the catalyst against all odds for survival.
We went on a good home run last year so I can't assume the potential isn't there. Hughes may have lost the fans but the squad seems behind him. That said, if Cisse and Taarabt's exchanges were anything to go by then we need that win now just to settle things is crucial. Ironically, Jason Roberts said yesterday that the draws and not losing by more than a goal were reasons to have hope for Reading and I don't see much difference between the two sides.
3 points will see us relegated under Hughes. Would you rather win and go down or draw/lose and stay up under another manager?
That's not an either/or scenario. Hughes could see us climb up the league (as unlikely as it may seem at the moment) and another manager could see us relegated.
no way simon would i like to see us lose on saturday thats not the attitude to take & agree with matt will another manager be any better ok can't be any worse, wait till 17. 00pm staurday & take it from there.
The 1st thing would never happen, I admit another manager could take us down but its a certainty if Hughes is still here.
Don't deal in certainties about things that aren't absolutes. There's a very tiny percentage chance that we could win every game left this season (talking millions to one). The probability of us getting 40 points with Hughes in charge are more reasonable even if they're becoming less likely. If I couldn't muster hope for something that is a passion/hobby then I'd turn my back on the game.
Ive got to the point where its impossible to see us staying up. A win on saturday buys him another 5 games which we wont win and that will see us relegated. Ive turned my back on away games and Im only going to home games because I have a ST, I will not renew if Hughes is here and it doesnt matter what division we are in, Hughes has killed all my enthusiasm. I was given the latest AKUTRs a week ago and cant even bring myself to read it. Im only really checking the forums in the hope that I see that hes gone.
The likely result is a draw. Will that be any good to us? Particularly as it will mean Hughes staying. Yes I'd take a win and hope it kick starts something. But long term, i still maintain a defeat would be better than a point. Despite everything he's said, Tony will be forced to act if we lose this one. There'll also come a point when we're such a lost cause that Redknapp won't be interested in us. He's the only man I'd trust to take a squad of underperforming talented players and quickly get the best out of them. It'll hurt on Saturday if we lose but we might look back on it as the turning point that saved our season
For sure we have been unlucky this season so far and another time we would be sitting on 10 or 11 points already. I'm not sure that would alleviate the concerns however as we have witnessed some extraordinary naivety by the manager. Just on its own, the failure to bolster the defence in the close season was an unbelievable act of bravado/stupidity and coupled with the timid tactics we have seen week in, week out there is little to suggest that MH is capable of turning things around. However, TF needs to ask any prospective replacement 'what would you do differently?'. The answer needs to be radical if we are to rescue our season and I honestly wonder if that is even possible given that the squad has been expensively assembled and unlikely to be altered too much. If not we may as well stick with MH and either a) wait for him to resign or b) see how he fairs in the Championship.
I would like to comment If I may. I can understand the posters point and I have had similar feelings with my own club under both Glenn Roeder and Avram Grant. The problem is, another defeat doesn't guarantee their dismissal in which case you may aswell have just supported your team on their way to what could be 3 crucial points. I think it is only a matter of time before Hughes turns it around anyway.
TF has announced its a "must win" game. I take it that anything other than 3 points means the sack. So a perfect result for me would be a draw. That keeps Saints within reach and also means we will have a new manager. The worst result is a win which means we will go down with Hughes.
Seems Mystic Meg and Russell Grant are following QPR in disguise here. People seem to think it is a given that Hughes will be gone if we lose against the Saints. I personally don't think it is as cut and dried as that. While he SHOULD be shown the door if we lose, how much money do we pay out in both compensation to him and then to lure (everyone's favourite) Harry Redknapp? Yes the money to stay in the premier league is big but the hope from the board I am sure is Hughes will turn it around. I will be cheering for a win against Southampton myself.
In your opinion. Stop presenting opinion as fact. Our fate for good or ill is not yet and will not be fixed following this saturdays game.
Im with flyer. I never want to see qpr lose but if it means an end to Hughes ridiculous reign, then so be it!
Of course, I see Flyer's logic and don't question that he has the club's best interests at heart. But am I going on Saturday, to watch as an impartial observer? Can't do it! I'll support the team and pray to the football Gods to give us the best result in the long term, whatever that may be
I would prefer 3 points than losing even if it prolongs the Hughes shambles. We need to close the gap to 17th...........again. Surely that's the most important thing?
