Unfortunately this is bang on the money.

At first I thought the eight year deal was a good thing, it would give us the stability, security, etc etc that we'd always craved. Now I'm not so sure, It's almost like there's zero pressure on him to perform from MA & DL. It's like having a lack of competition for places in the first 11, if someone knows they won't get dropped even if they play poorly then inevitably they begin to believe in their own hype and become too relaxed.

Not sure it is inevitable that security brings complacency. Alex Ferguson is probably the most job secure manager in the country and he's not exactly been slacking off on the medals haul over the past few years.

Yeah true, I suppose if we were doing well I'd be saying the eight year deal was a good idea.

Pardew is getting to me a bit lately, I mean where is this carpet football that he promised Cabaye we'd play? It's one of the main reasons he agreed to join us by all accounts, can't imagine he's best pleased at being by-passed by our long ball tactics.

It's the same with the set pieces, he said we'd work on these but we still use that useless diagonal to Williamson on nearly every free kick, I could be wrong but have we ever achieved one goal from that set play?

He said in pre season that we'd play from the back, Krul nearly always kicks long or holds on to the ball for an age preventing a swift counter attack, has Pardew addressed this matter with Krul? I'd guess not seeing as he's still doing both.

I know I'm probably showing the bloke a lack of respect given the sterling job he did last year, but I've been one of the few to question him early doors this season. Most/Some managers are unsure of their strongest 11, Pardew seems unsure about the style of football he wants to play which I find more worrying than not knowing your strongest team. He has an eight year deal, he's not going anywhere soon (rightly so) so I guess it's a bit pointless questioning him, but at the end of the day our results and performances have been hugely underwhelming this season (domestically anyway).

David Moyes got Everton to 7th only to oversee their slump to 17th the following season, then got 4th the following season before dropping them to 11th. And he's still there today and doing a good job....I hope Pardew gets to continue here even if we flirted with relegation this year because of this.

Good point to be fair, but my argument is we don't have any identity this season. Everton have always had the same identity under Moyes, by that I mean his teams have always been solid defensively, press high and play with a very quick tempo, especially at home. He's also always played 4-4-1-1, every player to a man under Moyes has always known the job of each position within the first 11.

For example so far this season:

Jonas - Played LB, RB, CM, DM, LM and just off the striker.
Anita - CM, DM, RM, RB
Perch - RB, LB, CB, DM

We've got 3 players that have played 14 positions between them this season after only 11 league games making it almost impossible to fine tune team shape and for those three players to find a level of consistency in their performances.

Don't think Bruce would be too popular a choice. Not Steve anyway.

Bit of a comedy thread to be honest. If the baord did lose their marbles and make a change, I'd want the mental Paulo Di Canio!! Not even worth discussing really as the manager is doing a fantastic job and we're in a really good place overall.

Wasn't having a go to be honest. Easy done though bud after having to watch us yesterday. Frustration is definitely the word! They were there for the taking, we just couldn't put the quality together. Always hurts more when its an opportunity missed. I'd rather be completely outplayed in some ways!

It's not worth discussing because he has an eight year contract, it's also not worth discussing based on the great work he did last year and because of that he deserves our backing at games during rough/poor patches of form (however on a forum I'll not hold back when expressing my concerns).

I'm at a loss to understand how you believe he is currently doing a fantastic job this season? We have won three of eleven league games, we've not dominated one game out of those eleven and certainly haven't been clear and deserved winners in any of them. We only have 1 clean sheet in 12 domestic games (league & cup).

We currently have two game plans, the fat Sam long ball game plan or the give it to HBA and expect him to do everything on his own game plan. It's not been good enough this season.

By all means defend him on the basis of last season, defend him on the basis that he wasn't backed with transfer funds in the summer, defend him by saying we've had a few injuries and suspensions, but don't lie to us/yourself by simply pretending he's doing a fantastic job this season when the performances and results clearly show otherwise.

Guardiola is hovering over Man City me thinks.

Mourhino to replace SAF in time

We need to stick with what we have and see things through, all this knee-jerk hire em and fire em will produce no rewards in the long term.

Successful teams and l stress the word team are built over time, this is neither a quick or painless process.

We need to have faith and support through thick and thin, however without reasonable financial support the above task is made much more difficult. The lack of proper funding in the summer is beginning to show.

A lack of funding doesn't excuse the long ball on show this season, but in essence you're right...he does deserve our full support and he'll get that. However faith is different to support, and my faith is dwindling. I accept the majority will disagree with me but only time will tell us who's right I guess.

If we're comparing ourselves to QPR then things must be worse than I thought <laugh>

In all honesty we've had a poor start, we have time to improve. Some fans are more patient than others, some see the games differently to others etc, if we were all the same then this place would be pretty dull.
