McManus, on loan from Middlesbrough, has strained ligaments while Skuse will undergo surgery shortly on a fractured cheekbone - both sustained their injuries in Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Birmingham. Louis Carey, however, got an hour of football under his belt in a reserve match so he provides another option along with defender James Wilson. Manager Derek McInnes hopes the fact his side play on Sunday will improve the chances of top scorer Steve Davies returning to action. Charlton will again be without a host of players for Sunday's trip to Bristol City. Defenders Lawrie Wilson, Cedric Evina and Rhoys Wiggins and strikers Ricardo Fuller and Yann Kermorgant are all still in the treatment room. Wilson will be out for a couple more weeks with a thigh injury, Evina faces a lengthy spell out with a knee problem and Wiggins is some way short of returning from a foot injury. Fuller is still troubled by a hamstring problem and Kermorgant is another long-term absentee after breaking his ankle. Ex-City Striker Danny Haynes lasted 68 minutes on his first start of the season following hamstring trouble and should be involved again. nice one Shiny, hope Danny doesn't score! He gave my brother his shirt after a game for us when he scored twice, so nice guy with great inks! I don't want to sound a plank but why is it a Sunday fixture? & remember wear your poppy with pride.
Good match thread, Shiny Lad. After humiliation at home to Middlesboro, 1-4, we wouldn't have approached this match with much confidence. But after beating the (then) league leaders 5-4 in a weird match we have perked up a bit. Most of the 5 we scored were total gifts (though you still have to take them when offered). We let in 4 again because we had no left-back and disrupted our defence with positional changes to cover that. We have today signed Dan Seaborne on loan from Southampton and I would expect him to go straight into the team. So I expect in 4-5-1: Hamer Solly, Cort, Morrison, Seaborne Haynes, Stephens, Pritchard, Jackson, Kerkar Hulse No real stars there but good we don't rely on any. Stephens is classy on his day but they come along all too infrequently. Solly and Morrison are solid citizens but more appreciated by our fans than our opponents' fans. The rest are journeymen and triers but there is a good team spirit. Boro was the first time we lost it but we got it back a week later. Subs: Button Taylor, Devite (he might start instead of Cort) Jonsson (also signed on loan today, from Wolves). Hollands (or Cook) Green, Wright-Phillips I am hoping for 1-2 in the Addicks favour and a good entertaining match.
Nice one as usual mate... Going for a City win, even with our recent form.... please log in to view this image
Excellent thread, Shiny Lad. Not much to add to or disagree with in eddie's post - it was a truly bonkers match on Tuesday night and was more significant for the boost to team spirit than as an indication of the future quality of our football. We were well clobbered on the Saturday by Boro (who turned The Massive Club over a treat last night as well) and after going two down to the league leaders the outcome could have been very much different but for the extraordinary work rate and growing self-belief as the game progressed. Signing Seabourne should mean that everybody's back in their correct positions on the field as well, which won't hurt. Strange going to football on a Sunday - there was a problem with the local Plod policing two footie matches and a rugby match on the same day, MassiveAttack - but I'm thoroughly looking forward to the game and am also going for a 2-1 win to us, while being very aware of the ability of Baldock to turn a game on its head.
Thanks guys Rovers are at home today massive, so we have to play Sunday, last time we played on the Saturday and they played on the Friday night
Hi, Shiny. I'm afraid after the mayhem of our 5-4 on tuesday there's only one possible scoreline - 0-0. Hope it's an entertaining 0-0 though.
I have a strange level of confidence for this game (which does not bode well for us!) so am going 1-2 with Cort and Haynes getting ours. My £10 bet with Corals should return £1,150 if that comes in We are doing OK on the road it's just at home where we are struggling. Shinylad
5-4 to City.............only kidding, believe the Bristol "Robins" will win 2-0, surely our luck will change.....
big game big day, if we lose this we are ****ed.. If we win it we are still pretty ****ed but at least it's a small stepping stone..
Afternoon lads Charlton team: Hamer, Solly, Seaborne, Morrison, Cort, Pritchard, Kerkar, Stephens, Jackson, Haynes, Hulse Subs: Button, Taylor, Dervite, Green, Hollands, Wright-Phillips, Fuller I would assume we're going 4-5-1 with Haynes on the right wing as he was on Tuesday COYA!
