Morning all, I know we are playing probably our biggest bogey team in the prem, and I know they have hit the ground running this year and everyone outside of Sunderland will be expecting the Everton to win at a canter. Well, I have seen enough on MON over the years to convince me he is one of the best in the business, I have seen enough of our team over the last 11month under MONs guidance produce performances way above what we are seeing now ( with pretty much the same players) and eventhough we lost to a poor Villa side last week I think we have turned a corner. We may not be all the way round the corner but we have changed direction. And I would like to see us carry that on this weekend ,but that means MON setting a team out to win and not a team out not to loose. I am hoping that Rose is fit and would love to see him and Johnson in tandem down the left, I think we have two, good clever footballers who together as a unit will cause many teams problem. So that's Rose at left back, the rest of the back 4 picks itself. Bardsley on the right . O'Shea and Cuellar in the middle. I know MON has favoured 2 holding midfielders in Catts and Colback but I think that is a negative tactic and goes against sending out a team to win a game, so I would like to see Gardener in beside Catts with Larson on the right. I would persevere with Fletcher and Sess as a front 2 but I would tell Sess to play a bit closer to Fletcher and to get beyond him at times. Bit I think the best thing MON can tell his players is to go out and express themselves and express themselves without fear. 5 years ago his month Everton tanked us 7-1 , this will not happen again but unless we go out with some belief and more importantly with a team set up to win we are not giving ourselves a decent chance. I can see us moving another few yards around that corner and come away from Goodison with a good footballing performance and a score draw.
I don't get why people complain about 2 DM's, in a 4231 that is totally necessary, even Man City do it. You'd get torn open otherwise. What MON needs to do for yous, imo, is make sure you stick to that formation instead of drifting into a 4411 which becomes far too defensive with 2 DM's.
I fancy we might get a surprise result tomorrow. Mind you I've just had my first drink after a 2 month dry spell so it's probably the red wine talking......
Think you are bang on mate the big three being too deep when we get the ball back part of the reason for the lack of z attack I think. I think it might stem from no pace at centre half so they naturally drop deeper worried about the ball in behind and the team gets dragged with them
I remember that 7-1 defeat and we go there in a similar postion, worrying for us they are going for a champions league place, and nothing has changed here in 5 years, will we be saying that in 5 years time?.
our hoodoo has to end sometime, just can't see it been tomorrow on this season's form, you never know though, if forecasting results of football matches were easy the bookies wouldn't exist
normally against the idea of catts &colback but think it might br best for tommorrow, need to watch out for the big belgium, thats what did us last week,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
