So far we have been linked with Sissoko and Douglas on free transfers at the end of the season. Does anyone else know of any quality players who are coming up to the end of their contracts that would benefit our squad?

Imagine Cove would be the man to ask for European players...*cough cough*

Personally I'd rather not wait to get someone like Douglas in July and would rather spend a minimal fee on someone in January but Sissoko we could afford to wait for.

Douglas would be an ideal centre back, he is a threat in the air which we lack. Moussa Sissoko wouldn't make too much sense seeing as though we already have Cheik, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Jonas Gutierrez and also Dan Gosling and Mehdi Abied for the engine room... I count Cabaye as the guy to float between the engine room and attack and think we could do with (if any) a young playmaker to help fill the void in midfield.

Thought that was why Amalfitano was brought in.

He seems to be a little off the pace Amalfitano. I know he is a attack minded central midfielder but Pardew seemed to want to play him on the wings during pre-season and vs Atromitros, but he seems to have dropped behind Obertan, Sammy, Ferguson and Marveux for those places and behind Bigirimana and Vuckic at least for a central roles.

Anyone know if this is due to injury or just not setting the place alight in training yet?

How can you not want Sissoko? Absolute machine in the middle. Watch the French league regularly and would happily have him over Tiote.

Sad, but necessary. Doesn't he realise some of our posters are nearing (what I happily refer to as) "peak age", thus most likely have enough heart-conditions without his pornographic input! <laugh>

I'm pretty sure Mbiwa's contract runs out in the summer, and he'd probably be a better option than Douglas

    <ok> haha

Bit surprised there aren't many players on that list that i would take, the only player i would really want would be Wilson from Liverpool. 20 y/o Cb who can play LB as well. Not seen the lad much but my scouse mate thinks he will set the world alight when he breaks through into the first team. Another name that jumped out was Di-Santo who would add something different upfront but does he have the quality??? Who knows...

Out of the rest there are a few "stop-gap", older players (e.g. Hangeland) who could add something to the squad for a few years. Apart from that I can't see many realisitc signings on the list mainly due to finance but also due to the lack of quality there.

You do realise that you can look round all of Europe on there though, not just PL? Drop down menu at the top. There's a few I'd like to take from some of the leagues. There are some we'd have no hope on of course, like Llorente!

True true. Would Llorente have had a big enough toe to get that ball home last night? I think not.
