Plenty of IRA sympathisers in the States TC, that's where they got their funding for arms etc.

    There's a link developing here <whistle>

Some of the crap being written here dates back about ten years. Things have moved a long way forward both sides of the border in Ireland and in Scotland since I first began attending game fifteen years ago. I will repeat, it is thankfully a tiny majority on both sides interested in that ****e regardless of what some might want to try and portray because of bigoted opinions

Eire, next you'll be telling me Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness are fine upstanding citizens.

Leopards don't change their spots - once a murdering scum terrorist, always a murdering scum terrorist <ok>

Thankfully most have moved on a considerable distance. I travel a lot to the northern part of this island and do a lot of work there. Remarkable how things have progressed in last decade. Never have any issues. Wouldnt have been so easy years ago mind you

Martin McGuinness the **** refused to swear allegiance to the queen which is no surprise as the prick was a mouthpiece to the IRA fighting the British establishment but was happy to draw an MP's salary, so why ****ing run for Parliament in the first place if that was the case <doh>

    Fair enough Eire <ok>

Those two should've been hanged for their crimes though. Instead of that they're shaking hands with Royalty <doh>

There are many that should, but then you create hero figures and greater divides. Present setup is the better imo

My source (http://quotationsbook.com/quote/46203/) attributes it to Will Rogers (1879 - 1935).

Which Dennis Healy do you believe first said this, when did he say it and what is your source?

    Here is what I found

Typical Yanks (sic) often research their claims first.

    Good luck!

I refuse to swear allegiance to the queen too. Lots of us are anti-royalists believe it's the right thing to do! Nowt wrong with that.

If you get around to doing some reading on the subject, I think you'll find that standing for parliament was a cute political move that got them all the attention they sought at the time. And getting paid by the government to do it must have been such a sweet bonus.

    Evening Jock <ok>

I realised there must have been a method in the madness at the time but as he was a mouthpiece to the IRA murdering scum (likewise Gerry Adams) so it was a lot different <ok>

Steve, just to be clear - I'm no fan of them or the IRA. I'm sure I wouldn't live for much longer if I told you what I really think about them!

I preferred the tactics of the SRA. Think it was in the 50s. They (rightly) objected to post boxes displaying 'ER II', as the queen was actually only the first Elizabeth of Scotland. So they blew them up! Not one person was injured during the campaign, far less killed. And do you know what? They won! All Scottish postboxes now only display 'ER'. Violent terrorism is so unnecessary.

Ah, the old sectarian argument thread. Makes me feel right at home.

    1. A lot of Celtic supporters who sing pro-IRA stuff etc do not support the terrorists, likewise Rangers fans and some of their chants/emblems. It's a way of winding up the other half similar to leeds fans who sing/sang the Munich song.

    2. Elected Sinn Fein MP's were never paid for their appointments because they did not take up their seats (they do, however, get extremely well-paid for their 'work' in the Stormont parliament as do our own half-wits at the other end of the spectrum)

    3. The IRA were, indeed, murdering cowardly scum as were the other side who claim loyalty to the Crown. Many on both sides made quite a lot of money out of their activities (and still do).

    4. It was an excellent result for Celtic last night playing the only way 'lesser' teams CAN play against Barca and hope to get anything.

    5. I'm from Belfast so I know more about all this than any of you ;)

You would be right of course JLA if you had quoted Will Rogers who wrote "If you find yourself in a hole, quit digging" (research ;))
But you chose to use Dennis Healey's quote using "stop digging" instead <ok><laugh>
See - us English research properly so we don't look like stupid Americans ;)

Nice try on changing the subject and making this about me. If you look back I was not quoting anyone, I was paraphrasing the concept.

It also does not change that you have made an @#$& of yourself as stated below:
