Well I guess the innevitable was to happen, a young honest and passionate manager who gave us his best has moved on......I for one whilst saddened at this news will wish him well. Now the search moves to a new man, a new era is about to dorn our club, new owners (hopefully the pst) and a new boss at the helm to organise, rebuild and regain what is great about PFC.......... Quite simply, who do you want? BP
Guy Whittingham didn't do too badly last time he was caretaker? Save the costs of finding a new manager and promote within. We have no money to offer anyone anything anyway!
Have you seen some of the names on there pompey_dan? Steve Coppell? - How long would he last? Nigel Adkins? - Not unless he fancied being lynched by the saints fans. Tony Adams? - Wasn't he described as the "worst gaffer ever"? Jon Harley? - Eerrrrrmm Ashley Westwood? - Somebody's going to be losing their money on that one seeing as he's gone to Blackpool with Appy. Harry Redknapp? Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Jamo back at the park. Very unlikely though.
Redknapp wouldn't help unless we were taken over by Bill Gates. He's needs a shed load of money to waste on a shed load of players before he can be successful.
Appoint from within, Whittingham probably and then when the PST take over they can choose a long term replacement. Wouldn't it be nice to have a manager for more than a couple of years! (Although I understand why Appy decided to leave).
Guy Whittingham did a really good job when Cotty left but was clear that he didn't want the job permanently. I couldn't help wondering if that is because he understands the fickle nature of the football fan Although of course it could just be that he'd rather be a coach without the headaches incurred by managing as well.
As others have already said, Guy Whittingham is the obvious choice that springs to mind - with either Andy Awford as his deputy, or bring back Stuart Gray if he is currently out of work.
Just seen 'Appy on BBC South News, praising the Pompey fans for the unwavering support they gave him. Wish him all the best at Blackpool, he deserves the chance to return up North to be near his young kids
Some tool is posting on the News site that Appy said his reason for leaving was that the trust plans were unfeasible - has Chanrai still got his puppets trying to destroy the fans takeover?
Was probably an interloper/WUM from down the road - quite a lot of them go on there to wind up Pompey fans. Muppets.
Linvoy as manager would be awesome though. We could take a massive punt and recruit Spencer Day, who's currently doing really well on an incredibly tight budget with Hampshire's second best team. We'd need to compensate them generously though, a couple of million should do it....
Linvoy did the great south run this year, I beat him by about 15 minutes. On that basis I should be the new Pompey manager!
I was going to type that all I want for Christmas is a football club, but after the last 48 hours I'm not so sure I will get it - or actually want it if this is the best we can expect. It was obvious from the body language of manager and players alike that no ones heart was in it last night.
Well.... there's still Portsmouth FC Ladies at least (and you can't say their heart's not in it) http://www.facebook.com/PortsmouthFCLadies
