Who'd have thought it. Left us. Retired. Came back... Lyon coach Remy Garde has revealed veteran midfielder Steed Malbranque has received a pre call-up to the French national squad. Malbranque, 32, has never played for Les Bleus but could be in line to gain his first cap in next Wednesday's friendly against Italy. Now in his second spell at Lyon, he has reignited his career, and an impressive start to the season has caught the eye of national team head coach Didier Deschamps. The full squad is to be announced on Thursday and according to Garde, the former Fulham and Tottenham man fully deserves his call up. "If you do not consider his age, and his sabbatical year, but what he has achieved so far, I can see him in the French team." Garde told French radio station RMC. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ed-a-pre-call-up-to-the-French-national-squad Delighted for him.
He popped up on fifa and scored the winner, was suprised! (The twat ) We should have kept him on the books aswel as zenden imho
He is only 32?? he is younger than me, I thought he was about 50 by now. Fair play to him, maybe he's given up the ciggs.
Hey Jersey, Which Uni did you eventually choose and how is it going? My oldest lad will be leaving college next year and we have been visiting a few of his choices..
Malbranque was one of the most skillful players I've ever seen in a Sunderland shirt. If his shooting skills had been as good as he was with the ball at his feet he'd have played for one of the major CL sides. Of that I have no doubt.
I live in Lyon, and have had the privilege of watching Steed breeze through every game I've seen him in. The man is sheer quality, and I'm delighted to see him finally have his chance on the national stage.
Lancaster, and it's absolutely brilliant! Nightlife's pretty decent, and there's a big student vibe around the town (seeing as it's pretty small anyway). If it's one of his choices, I'd say go for it, I don't think I'd rather be anywhere else tbh! Just out of interest, what are his choices?
