Wow, there's some stupid comments on this thread. It's a fantastic resource, for free, and if you can't understand how to use it, well, fair enough, etc.

Presented bizarrely - If I gave that in to head office where I work I'd be shot. Makes interesting reading though, once you get past the initial confusion.

Well that made me smile. I might regret asking but what on Earth are you on about now?

It's brilliant reading and perfectly well presented, if i gave that in to my work as something I'd done for free (which we're getting it for, and I'vekindly brought to this forum only to have it so rudely dismissed by some) i'd be massively congratulated for the enormous amount of work and amazing amount of information I'd gathered together in one easy to read interactive format

Exactly LDL, the data's there but it isn't structured properly for optimum viewing. I eagerly await YV's more user-friendly analysis.

I hope they're better than your adding up Mr Accountant! <yikes>

"Just look at the 2010-11 for us and Arsenal. We spent £17.5mill on transfers and £91mill on wages which makes our total £108mill."

Whilst GHoddle10's going on and on about Lloris etc is dull I'm really not sure that this board benefits from even the moderators basically bullying. That's all I'll say on that.

This link is a nice idea and the info on it is interesting - but as has been said, it's a great shame that the graphics are so inaccurate and misleading.

I presume that many people here will be familiar with the Swiss Rambler website. It is one guy (I think) who does excellent financial analyses of clubs. I can vouch for how good it is cos when I came across it the link took me to his analysis of Everton and it was so in depth that I presumed that it was a website of a Everton fan. Not only that but it was so well-presented that I read a whole long article on the finances of Everton football club (not what I had woken up intending to do that day!). Imagine my amazement when I then realised that he had done equally in-depth analyses of every EPL club and many others besides! (Scroll down on the right).

Don't know who the guy is but his efforts are a genuinely excellent resource for the footballing world. Very well done, sir:

I am genuinely baffled as to why the bars on that bar chart are so wrong, though. It's really weird. Surely if there's one thing that should happen with a bar chart it's that the larger amounts should have, er, larger bars. Why even have the bars otherwise? Such a shame that such a simple and fundamental flaw makes the whole thing much less useful than it should be.

He's a filthy Goon, if I remember right, Lenny.
He seems to go into quite a lot of depth, but I remember some complete punts of opinion on his assessment of us a couple of years ago.
That may just have been his personal bias sneaking in for one club, though.

The bars on the article represent what place in the Premier League each block of spending would give you. ie, if you spend the most on transfers, then you're first and have the biggest bar.
Doesn't make much sense to me, either! <laugh>

Oh my God! Now I get it! My God! That's awful! It's just...well...that's the worst example of data presentation I've ever seen! So there's no attempt to make the size of the bar proportional to the size of the amount. 1st gets a line 20cm long, 2nd a line 19cm long etc even if 1st spent 150m and second 60m!

I tutor kids in maths and I've got to say that even the most challenged kids would not come up with a system like that (which is lucky cos I wouldn't know where to start in explaining why it's ******ed).

I also note that 09/10 Portsmouth's wage bill was apparently zero. Funny how they had all those financial problems then!
