Levein paid off by Scotland and Strachan installed as bookies favourite. Do you think Malkay would fancy it if offered?
no - managing with a small to average chance of qualification for the 2016 euros, writing off their chances of 2014 world cup - thats 4 years of management wasted if they dont qualify. the money and prestige is in the PL, and they will not get malky, especially as we would demand multi million pound compensation.
Scotland have as much chance as Wales of ever qualifying for an international tournament. A combination of the high expectations of their fans and media coupled with a very poor squad means that no half decent manager would touch the job with a proverbial bargepole. The Scottish job (as the job of managing Wales) will only attract managers who have failed elsewhere and are on the managerial scrapheap. Strachan and the like fit that bill perfectly.
Just like the Welsh, N Irish Jobs, they are a poison chalice, plus more and more supporters are just losing interest in international football. Not to mention the players.
The Jocks have a list as long as your arm of currently unemployed ex-jock internationals to pick from: - Strachan, McLeish, Coyle (might not have been capped), Jordan, Souness, Walter Smith, McCoist (okay has a job at present) and more that they won't need to look at Malky - would cost them a hefty fee which, as we know, the canny Jocks wouldn't want to pay. I've moved from no wuckin' fay to no wuckin' forries.
He isn't going anywhere. It would be a kiss of death to his carrer, from being a shining light for future top Prem clubs to fight over, to being anither failed Scotland manager. I still fancy him for Manures job eventually.
Could be Xsnaggs - has to prove his pedigree by winning something first, ideally with us. Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if Moyes was already a done deal for Manure and kept quiet until the right time. How much longer will Fergie go on? He seems to have mellowed a little so is that a sign he is about to hang up the changing room crockery?
In a recent interview, can`t remember where, might have dreamt it even, perhaps in between fantasising about Posh Minx or others... he wouldn`t be drawn on the subject. Only to say that at some point in his career, as any proud Scotsman would, he would love to lead his country. However, he said he has a job to do here first, and he probably only has a three year window to be a sucess anyway. So if he fails here, he can become boss of Scotland....he didn`t say that bit! It is almost certain that if he gets us into the top flight, he will be sacked within a short period of time, after a few losses, he`ll be well aware of that....look at Billy Davies and the Southampton manager, and Warnock to name but 12!
