Luckless again today. Another deflected goal (with a handball in the build up). Hit the bar. Could have been 1-0 up at that point and parked the bus for a draw/win. Could have beaten Fulham with some luck. Could have drawn with Spurs and got a draw/win against United. Deserved to lose to wigan home game and all the other away games. But we could go on a run of 2 or 3 wins with some luck imo
Fulham could argue that as well , we deserve what we have and that's little , I dont think you will find Adkins arguing that .
Code: Hate to say it, but I don't think our bus (should we try to park it) would be parked anywhere near the goal, or be big enough to block much of said goal! More of an abandoned, burnt out taxi.
Agreed, its our mistakes; not tracking, not closing down etc..not luck..only ourselves to blame at the moment
If we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all. Just think what might have been, hypothetical I know, but if the Ref had heard the fourth official telling him he had missed a hand ball for the first, if it had not struck Yosh, e.t.c. If Lambo had hit the ball slightly less hard, if Long had been given offside for the 2nd, if Lala had been correctly given a Pen for the shove in the area. If Ramirez had been match fit, I could go on but I am boring myself witless. We lost get over it, how do we beat the Swans?
Anyone who watched MNF with Gary Neville would of seen him hit the nail on head. Defensively we've got great shape and look solid and then all of a sudden an individual tries to play offside, someone slips, we fanny with the ball fortio long and we lose game because of it. Theirs not much more NA can do accept hope that for at least one fuxking game that the backbone just stays solid and ruthless and well be fine.
Good phrase, that. It's slightly paradoxical, but it illustrates that there is actually no such thing as luck. Just unforeseen events.
That little deflection, that un-given penalty. Could go on all day stating how unlucky we've been this season.
Did you see the average formation positions of West Broms to ours ? Theirs looked consistent whereas our looked well like a primary school team , all bunched up in some places and others large gaps .
Did we have a formation? if we did it left large gaps and did not close them down.wont win any games if you dont stop the opposition in the mid field areas.
I'll bump your thread as well. As Joe has pointed out above, there is no such thing as luck, just unforeseen events. We don't need luck. We need consistency. Consistency in refereeing decisions and consistency in our defending. What can we do about it..? Well, until the football authorities realise that referees are inconsistent among themselves, and need electronic assistance and an incredibly clear set of instructions that are not open to interpretation, pretty much nothing at all. What about our team..? Well, in the short term, we can try to iron out the mistakes on the training ground, although how one realistically simulates the moment is a hard one to answer. Players will only get better if they have the capacity to do so. A carthorse will never win a grand national. Mind you, a thoroughbred is unlikely to do a good day's uncomplaining work. Horses for courses, as they say. Ultimately though, these players are on borrowed time, because despite all the considerable expertise and professionalism at Southampton FC, they are still making unforced errors. Obviously, the natural time period for these players to improve to the point where they can be relied upon is already written. They have until January 2013.
