Norway discovered her North Sea oil round the same time as the UK did.

Norway has a higher GDP to Scotland even though it has roughly the same amount of people and the same amount of natural resources with similar climates.

Scotland's Nominal GDP per Capita is $43,000 where as our Norse cousins have $97,000.

The Norwegians have a pension fund that is larger than the USA's and 2nd only to Dubai.

Norwegians don't pay income tax. They are taxed on what they consume, hence the cost of living (particulalry items such as alcohol and tobacco) are so expensive.
