    I am back!

    Hope everyone is well!

Having read through a few posts etc I see a lot of us are feeling very down and negative and I haven't come to give the old were going to be fine chat or its just bad luck etc.

Mr Adkins made a few mistakes from the end of the season and it has obviously continued into this one.

He knew which areas we were weakest in and completely ignored the need for a solid defence if a team can't score they can't win, West Ham have been a prime example of this to me already this season and I can't see them having any problems staying up.

He also did not identify his targets early enough and secure their services it was constantly "oh we might sign this player" and then "oh there has been a hitch" etc just look at Chelsea they decided who they wanted and had them signed up even before Man City could blink.

Loaning out Billy Sharp was also a big mistake he looked dangerous every game I watched him in pre-season and then to just allow him to leave like that left me scratching my head. It now appears he wouldn't even want to return.

So in short this season after last year has brought us all back down to earth but that is just currently there is still time to turn things round however I feel if we are to do this then we will have to spend more money again in January and I hoped after the summer spending we wouldn't need to spend anymore.

Adkins to me is a brilliant manager and a excellent manager when dealing with players and fans he says what they/we want to hear.

However this is not good enough and after defeat to West Brom tonight he will rightly be replaced with someone with better knowledge of the top flight and transfers.

    Goodbye Nigel thanks for everything!

    Peace!

I thought you really, really hated Billy Sharp? Now you're calling his loan move a mistake even though it makes a lot of sense?

    Oh also, welcome back.

Welcome back SFA! Are you sure you're not called GMI? Nigel will learn from his mistakes and WE WILL STAY UP!

    Thanks Mr Nice!

Yeah as much as I didn't like him last season he won me over and sending him off on loan and replacing him with Jay-Rod at a cost of around 7 million seems crazy to me and just shows Nigel's poor choices when it comes to buying in Premier League quality.

Having said that I do think he will improve as the season continues!

    How are you Lamb?! <ok>

I have noticed his posts and that he seems to get quite a lot of negative attention on here but (and will probably get pasted for this) he does make sense in some of the stuff he says in that he only cares about the club and wants us to stay up at all costs.

I am trying to cling on to my last remaining pro Nigel thoughts but we all must be questioning ourselves really?

I would have loved Sharp to still be with us. But, just as with Hammond, we ultimately don't know for certain whose decision it was to go out on loan. The club's, or the player's.

One thing is for sure though, should we get relegated then I would want to see Sharp on the training ground on the first day of pre-season. Even if we lost the likes of Lallana and Ramirez, a strike force of Lambert, Sharp and Rodriguez would be mouth watering at Championship level.

Do you think it was possibly Cortese who said to ditch certain players? Cause I was always on the understanding Adkins and Sharp were close?.

What on earth are you basing this on?

And it's not his fault we didn't buy defenders, he's not responsible for transfers.

I'm sure they are but Adkins knows Sharp isn't a premier league striker and rightly didn't let sentiment come before professionalism.

I would doubt it, but who knows. Maybe it was made clear from above that X amount of players had to go, or those that were very rarely going to start should be shipped off the wage bill. Makes business sense I guess.

I too thought Adkins and Sharp were close. But one imagines that Sharp and O'Drisscoll are close too, after their time at Doncaster together. Maybe the chance to play for him again was too tempting to turn down?

We just don't know. I'm just thankful that we haven't sold him (yet, any way).

Kindly tell me who makes the signings then? I am not saying your wrong as when Nigel spoke about the Gaston signing he made it clearly obvious it was not down to him.

But then maybe he isn't the man manager I thought he was.

I think Les Reed is the main man when it comes to signings, he is in charge of 'scouting and recruitment' among other areas, though I'd imagine Adkins has an input.
