A point suggested by Franck and others on various threads tonight. Players not going up to him during injury breaks and players looking quizzical at like for like substitutions... What other clues are we picking up as the bus starts and stutters from one unsuccessful week into the next? Reason for threading this one is cos it answers all others. If Mark Hughes has lost the dressing room, then there's certainly no way back as Warnock found to his cost.
Have you forgotten Brix? We are now Q.P.S. (Queen's Park Strangers) #We dunno who we are, We dunno who we are, We're Queen's Park Strangers, We dunno who we are.#
Many will rightly suggest that there's no way any of us can know. However, I am certainly getting the impression at games that the players' body language is far from right. Could just be the fact that we're struggling I suppose, but many, especially Bosingwa seem to be simply going through the motions and not putting anywhere near 100% effort in. As you say, if he's lost the dressing room then it's thank you and goodnight.
The lack of a true on pitch leader has been the start of the rot. From there losing the dressing room becomes inevitable.
It's the only conclusion I can come up with. Poor performances, poor results, players not responding. That first half said it all. If you can't get up for a home game against the second worst side in the league, then it's all over as far as I'm concerned.
Agree re leader, mistake having Park as captain. Shame Hughes hasn't lost his way to our dressing room
Thought for the last few games we were all on the same page but yesterday showed that MH does not have support from all his players.Very worrying.
Surely if he had lost the dressing room, we would not have dominated the second half and so very nearly won! If he's lost the dressing room, the HT team talk would be destructive. It did not seem to be to me. How on earth Adel failed to score is just beyond me. We have had no luck, no decisions (clear penalty yet again as agreed by commentators) and just nothing going our way. When you're at the top, Man U etc, as well as being miles beter than many teams, you do seem to get the rub of the green. It appears the converse is also true. Bizarrely, it only needs a mini run of a couple of wins and a draw to level us with Stoke! I know that is hard to believe on the basis of past performance but hopefully, like sound financial advice, past performance is not indicative of future performance!! Surely it must improve sometime?
No, I don't think he has. It's a tired cliche trotted out when a team is on a poor run. Taarabt seems to be listening for one.
I don't think he's lost the dressing room directly. My meaning of this is that I don't believe there is open dissent. Looking at body language and performances however that's another tale. I think Green, Bosingwa,Faurlin and Mbia now don't give a ****e for different reasons. Ferdinand,Onouha,SWP are shot to pieces confidence wise - I don't think any of those 3's next contract will be with a Prem side. Granero - He could be off you know, Betis have some money and pushing for a CL place. Zamora - Now this is the funny one, as he is so woefully off the pace from his normal game it's untrue. Definitely not lost AJ and Dyer are both in the extremely happy camp as it was MH that gave these 2 crocks their last big pay day and Nelsen. And the most important one that hasn't been lost is Uncle Tone himself.
Don't think MH has lost the dressing room .................... think it is more of the case that we are lacking 'CONFIDENCE'. Players not sure of this and that ( LACK OF CONFIDENCE ).............. no real cohesion with the team ( LACK OF CONFIDENCE ) most of our games have moments of quality play, followed by poor play. To me, this all comes down to confidence, but hey ............ I'm halfway around the world, what the heck do I know?
Valid OP Brix, good follow up on your other superb thread. If he's lost the dressing room is impossible to say. Your guess is as good as anyones. My guess would be no. Maybe it's based more on hope than anything as it looks to me that Fernandes will stick by MH to the bitter end. But he must have said something to get them going in the second half and that to me tells that he hasn't lost it. Only a shame we can't play two good halves. What I won't base it on is Bosingwas body language as that is worth zero, a paid mercinary embarrased to be playing for Chelseas little brother. I was very excited at first when we signed him, now all he does is piss me off. It's fear and low confidence that's affecting us the most atm. Not something that can be bought or given to the players by MH, it has to be earned through wins. Catch 22.
He hasn’t lost the dressing room. He never had control of it in the first place!! Mbia, SWP, Zamora, Park, Traore and especially Bosingwa really couldn’t give a f*ck about our club. Sure Bosingwa’s actions must have been brought up elsewhere on this board but with about 15mins to go when he lost the ball in Readings box and they countered he slowly jogged back before stopping to literally walk back while the ball was in play. Hughes and Bowen definitely saw this because I could see them react but it showed just how spineless they are by not subbing him straight away. Bosingwa should be fined the maximum 2 weeks wages for this and dropped for Stoke.
Control of the dressing room? He possibly doesn't care nor consider that his job but that of his coaches. He has a poor history of being able to adapt to different situations from way back, Barcelona for starters. As for players not caring about the club or not liking football that's understandable, Assou Ekotto's not that keen on football but plays well enough. Many of us don't care about the job or company we work for but still do our best if only for the money.
