Can't say we are vulnerable at set pieces any more, just compare us to the days of Roberto, now that's venerability in front of set pieces, yes we get a tad nervous on times, but look at our clean sheets last year, think we had one of the best defenses too, so I'm not too worried having watched our boys at the back, all this week. Jazz and Tiendalli did well at Anfield, Monk was ok as cover today, and Ben Davies had a good game I thought. We are holding our own well at the moment, long may it continue.................<ok>

NJ I think you're being harsh on monk and Ben Davies. I also think you were harsh on tremmel in midweek.

I think youve made your mind up on these players regardless of what happens in the game.

I can't really fault any of the above. Football is not an exact science, if it was then no teams would ever score or make any mistakes.

I think we've been great this week - everyone has done us proud.

I agree. Monk was very solid all game, Ben Davies likewise and Gerhard 'disaster waiting to happen' Tremmel did what he had to do (which wasn't that much surprisingly).

I like the way Ben Davies has no regard for reputations. He gave Boyce of Wigan a good clattering a couple of weeks ago and the same today with Torres. If he keeps this up then Neil Taylor will be hard pressed to get his place back.

And did I spot Ki misplacing a pass today? He should be benched. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think Leon misplaced a pass up in man city last week too.

    The standards are definitely slipping!

Next thing we know, Chico will be mucking up his goal celebrations...

Come on now aswan Monk solid all game? I certainly wouldn't put it that way, he was ok in my view, and did a job, Ben Davies did have a good game though, but stop using my one liners!............<laugh>

Anyway I stand by that statement aswan, time will tell if I'm right or wrong, and if I'm right, I'll soon bounce it back at you! You Tart.....<cheers>

Well, i think alot of people refuse to look at the minus points RE certain players too. You cant say Monk played well, he did enough and was lucky Torres had a mare,he was ponderous in posession losing out to torres at one point when dithering and torres took it off him . Ive always stood up for monk and i will be first to admit if im wrong about a player but he is only playing because 2 others are injured, he is 3rd choice for a reason, the sands of time are catching up with him,it happens.

Tremmel, had nothingto do for 90% of the game but again why does such a big keeper rufuse to move off his line?? we know we sometimes struggle at set piece! im not convinced by tremmel at all, i wasnt convinced by him last season either, his save from, the free kick was a comfortable height but he decided to punch it away and make it look harder than it was.

Lets hope tremmel does welll,it will be intresting to see how he goes against southampton away then we will finally see the level of his ability, southampton will be launching it in all game.

Ben Davies had a great game and for benifited from a rest mid week, he is improving every game,he will still make defensive mistakes but as long as the others can mop them up then it may be ok.

just seen the stoke v norwich game how the **** did we get 4 yellow cards ,stoke got 5 and it was a dirty game !!

Monk did a job and in the circumstances an excellent one. He was bought for League 1and is now helping out at Prem level.

The fact we drew with Chelsea with our third choice centre half makes it even sweeter.Long term he will be replaced - but for now give him the credit he deserves.

He deserves credit for what? doing what he gets paid for but doing it crap.

I understand he is the best we have to offer right now, we all know that, but when he plays a good game i will be first to give him deserved "credit" it may well be he struggles to come into the team if not playing regular point is that he was told he could go and chose to remain when even he himself knows this level is now(and iindeed always was) too far for him. Thats fine if he wants to stay and the manager has been very fair, but he shouldne expect to be getting a pat on the back when he plays below the standard,he floundered badly for their goal and mistakes at the back will be the difference between relegation and staying up! i think alot of people think we are going to cruise the prem league this season, we are playing great stuff but our weak points are still the same,if we cant get points off the bottom teams we will get dragged into a scrap(we struggle to beat the bottom clubs dont we ) and i wouldnt want to see us in that position playing the type of football we do.

Maybe if monk and a few others had taken the offer to move on we may have had scope to bring in a couple of players in key areas , i know laudrup didnt want to load the team with pro's that wont be playing so he was prepared to utilise the fringe boys when he can but i feel that if room had been created for new arrivals then we would not now be relying on monk, tate etc when there is a problem.

You can understand players for sitting on their contracts and wanting to maximise their earnings if they move on but it does nothing for the club and i aint giving credit to people like that, sorry . <ok>

Hopefully, im proved wrong on monk and tremmel and they both turn out to have massive seasons for the swans. :)

You were very good today and more than worthy of a point.

You were the first team to outplay us since atletico.

Also your fans were superb: good to see fans supporting their team rather than singing about the opposition.

Good luck with the rest of your season.

What does concern me about Monk is that I get the feeling that we're holding on to him to line him up for a future Managerial role.
When the original rumours broke pre-season about disharmony, part of that rumour was that Laudrup was walking and Monk was taking over.
I know these rumours have been shot down as bollocks, but there was plenty of smoke at the time and since.
Jenkins has shown plenty of times that he's happy to take a punt on a rookie manager if their philosophy is right, I just hope he's not going to attempt it in the premier league when Laudrup moves on

    Cheers.
I was especially proud of our support when we went the goal down, it seemed to rile us up, especially when your lot started with "where's the w@nker with the drum" :D
Lost my voice now though, but well worth it <cheers>

Our support was awesome i have to agree, they were superb and they helped the team to get that point by the constant singing and shouting, a great atmosphere , at least it sounded that way on TV over here, we can feel very proud of the players today and im sure they will take great heart from this weeks football but southampton is a massive game

RE Monk, i sound very unfair on him and i understand some may feel thats un called for, it is true that he has been part of the unrest at the club on the summer tour, there ere journo's and people who witnessed the exchange of views between the senior pro's and Laudrup,in a room with glass windows , there was alot of finger pointing going on and none of that was coming from the management! monk probably feels strong enough within the club to say what he thinks, he also fancied himself for the job and still wants to be part of our future on the coaching front.

Ive heard rumours that we will be bringing in another coach in john jenson, so the jobs that are available at scfc will be few and far between, i think all that stuff from the summer is well and truely forgotton by the management and players, but i beleive that monk see's himself as part of swanseas future if not as a player as something else and i can see that being a little bit of a problem myself, the summer tour proved that.

Anyway, onwards and upwards to Southampton ! hopefully Chico is fit and we can battle our way to 3pts, Pablo to start in front of Dyer again and us to nick a hard fought win .

I think in fairness to Gary Monk due to the zonal marking system he is standing still, trying to mark Gary Cahill an exceptional header of the ball, who is taking a running jump to gain height. Cahill's header is going wide so he put him off. This is the same Cahill who looked quite ordinary in the Bolton side we beat 3 - 0 at the Liberty last year so perhaps we can give GM a break. Our back 4 was playing against the European Champions with 200 million pounds worth of talent and we restricted them to very few chances.

Not sure what people want from Swansea players sometimes. Great performance even better result!

Norway, we all know Garry Monk is past his sell-by date and I'm sure we'd all prefer to see Chico Flores playing instead but I still maintain he had a solid performance. If you watched live on TV perhaps you were subjected to numerous slow motion replays of his "errors" but in real-time at the Liberty my impression was that he did well. No way was I 'embarrassed' watching him.

Tremmel made a sharp save down at his post and kept out the free-kick, admittedly a bit flamboyantly, but he kept them out. Could he have done better with the goal - who knows?

And as for Ben Davies, you've been wanting Tiendelli to play instead for a long time, but Laudrup keeps playing Davies for the big games - what does that tell you. I don't agree with this theory of yours that he needs to 'have a rest' or 'take time on the bench to see where he's at' etc. etc.

There we are, just my opinions of course.

Not like that Norway, we were absolutely relentless yesterday, especially when we went behind.
Like I said earlier, I think they riled us up with the 'who's the w@nker with the drum' chant, he responded by taking his top off and holding the drum in the air, to which we all shouted back "there's the w@nker with the drum" followed by the inevitable "you Jack bastard!!".
That really got the drummer going and the 'Michael Laudrup's barmy army' chant went on for what seemed forever.
It all made for a brilliant atmosphere and I think gave the players an impotant lift after going behind, so I think we have to say thanks to the Chelsea fans who started it off <cheers>
