When NUFC were relegated to the championship all the haters, morons and critics alike had us tipped for freefall yet here we are almost two years on at the brink of premier league survival. We have had plenty of ups and downs over the course of the season but we have mixed it with the best in the business with effectively the championship winning squad. Im hopeful of a few (million) quid in the transfer kitty, keeping hold of our star performers, the return of HBA and Gosling and some excellent youngsters coming through so its exciting times to be a Newcastle fan once again

I wouldn't say it is a championship squad, they proved too good for the championship and they are easily better than 6 or 7 premier league teams. Other than that I agree with everything said.

Your right not a championship squad in terms of quality but effectively our championship squad.

I admire you for your positive out look on Newcastle's future.

I tend not to get excited due to the fact that we will soon be entering a new transfer window where I expect to be saddened by the quality we let go and the players we bring in to replace them. I will be more positive if Mike Ashley gets his short arms in his very long pockets and splashes out something near the £35 million we got from Andy Carroll.

Sorry to sound negative but while MA runs our club I will always expect the worse in terms of the footballing decisions he makes

I will share your positive outlook with you if I am satisfied with our squad at the beginning of next season but not until then
