Not City obviously, but today my veterans team won their Hull and East Riding league title(due to the loss of our nearest rivals Springhead, who can no longer catch us), while also winning 2-1 in the league cup to make the final at Bishop Burton College in two weeks time. Our season record reads W15 D/1 L/2, not bad eh?
May just pop along to that nothing like a few heart attacks to cheer up someone my age !! RIP to Sir Henry while we on the subject.
I have traditionally played right back, but as this is really quite a good team and I'm the least fit player they've tended to put me in positions where I can't screw up, so I've played right wing, left wing and up front. I've started a couple of games, but generally come on from the bench, I've made about twelve appearances, scored twice and have three assists, making my stats just marginally better than Aaron Mclean's.
We did the double. We beat East County 8-0 yesterday to win the Div 3 Cup and were awarded both the League and Cup trophies. I'd be surprised if the trophy cost more than a fiver(which is a good job, as I left on the bar at Bishop Burton College ) and the medals can't have been more than a quid. Still, I've never won anything playing football before, so I'm well chuffed.
do you want me to put a word in for you with Lyon's assistant coach then? Their top striker Lisandro Lopez is out & if Ghilas can score in the French league then so can you.. ha ha
There's a couple of lads on our team who played semi-pro, or were on the books at City and our keeper used to play for KR, but I fear I fall well short of being anywhere near a professional sportsman. We were going on a European tour dj, we'd planned a weekend in Valencia playing an ex-Valencia XI, but not enough of the team could get a weekend pass from their missus(at least not one to Spain). It looks like we're playing an ex-Sunderland XI instead now, with night out in Sunderland, then a piss up the next day in Whitley Bay.
