The Breeders Cup is one of my favourite meetings of the year. It is just a shame there are too many unnecessary races now. Anyway my selections are:- 8.06 MERIT MAN looks the one to beat in the opener. Not sure the 6f will suit Ceiling Kitty as much as 5f. 8.46 Fame And Glory probably has the best staying form in the race but not convinced he is the horse he was. The two to possible watch here are the Dermot Weld trained Sense Of Purpose and Frankie Dettori's CD mount JUNIPER PASS. 9.28 Sky Lantern goes for Richard Hannon and should run well but it wouldn't surprise me if one of the US horses get the better of her. Spring Venture could go well for Canada but I like FLASHY WAYS. 10.08 The favourite Executiveprivilege is there to be beat and KAUAI KATIE could be the one. This fillies has won her starts well and if she stays should win. 10.48 This is the big race of the night as far as the Europeans are concerned. The Fuge has top form for the in-form Buick and Gosden. Nahrain went close to winning this last year and comes here off the back of a Grade 1 win in the USA. The selection goes to the improving French trained filly though in RIDASIYNA. 11.30 There is some interest for the Europeans in the final race in the former John Gosden trained Questing who could try and lead from the start. There are plenty of leading candidates such as last year's winner Royal Delta and the last two Juvenile Fillies winners Awesome Feather and My Miss Aurelia but I am going for the improving CD winner LOVE AND PRIDE.

In the marathon this Commander looks interesting - won 6 on the bounce stepping up from 6f to 11f in the process Flashy Ways in the aptly named 21:28 race Executiveprivilege in the next - can't beat a bit of that on transatlantic BA flights in first class (where's Brizy ??) In the Filly & Mare turf In Lingerie has a fabulous name but I like Nahrain with Frankie for some strange reason My Miss Aurelia in the ladies classic and old boy Dermot Weld to land the lucky last. Be surprised if I have 1 winner out of that lot
