Could Adam Johnson be the lad that finishes O'Neill?

I didn't realise that the guy was 25 years old!

I thought he was still a young lad. Damn. Well I hate to break to you guys, but the lad has shown inconsistency and injury problems, and for a 25 year old, it kinda of should be a worry for you.

In fairness mate I think the point Tash was trying to make was that if Jonhson was 21/22 then he could probably improve by another 20-30%, the fact he's 25 probably means that his previously seen best form is more than likely as good as he'll get, with maybe a small improvement of another 10% added to his game.

He'll hit form eventually, probably sooner rather than later. I'm not saying he's going to turn out the same but he reminds me a bit of Dyer for us (although less injury prone). Dyer should have had his best years from the age of 26-31, instead his best years were from 20-25, from 26 onwards his injuries got worse, he never regained confidence and wasn't even a shadow of his former self. It's a minor miracle that we received 6 million for the lad.

You must like conceding goals then. I don't doubt he is better with the ball but I prefer defenders who can actually defend. He reminds me of Bramble with us, you're just waiting for the inevitable blooper. You have to feel for Cahill at present, its like playing with a simple child. I watched him the other night and at one point he just seemed to be looking at Luiz in disbelief at how little he knew about the basics of defending.

Awful and I just don't think he'll ever cut it as a top 4 defender in this country. Portugal he was fine with more time.

What a strange question, are you trying to insinuate that the manager ask for sexual tension release from players?

    This is extraordinary!

Cahill is a superb defender, also good with his feet & quick for a defender.

Luiz has all of the above.... bar the superb defender bit.

He has the positional sense of an U11 player.

He really is something else to watch. Another negative with him is his typical latin temperament. Fair enough they got royally ****ed by Clattenburg but when you are down to 9, you don't expect your centre half to start running round like a headless chicken sticking elbows out left right and centre. It was like he thought "this isn't fair, I no longer want to play". Thankfully none of them came near to connecting.

    Ha ha.

He's apalling as a defender, the gaps he leaves are like tiring 7-a-side players!

He could maybe be a half decent CDM or RB, but he's never a CB.

He looked like a worldy for a good month or so after Chelsea signed him.

Gary Neville said he was like a character on playstation and got ripped to shreds for saying it, but I can't think of a better analogy for him so Nev's hit the nail on the head there, as usual. Sir Gary.

He looked class at Benfica, but then the standard is waaaay lower.

Maybe the fact he scored a couple goals early doors masked the fact he is pipe?

Aye, starting one in Durham & one in Newcastle on a Sunday, the Friday will be full on the Sunday quite chilled.

Naming venues next week, quite excited for it like.

There's a new mix uploading as we speak from this afternoon, kinda deep tech house stuff, some bombing tracks on, be up in 45 or so..

how many world class centre backs from Brazil are there though? they dont trip off your tongue do they, Silva now but thinking back over the years .... LB/RB fine, CB nope, they all seem to play like sweepers, get the ball and bring it out which can lead to errors and looking silly, we are used to get it and hoof it upfield where hopefully a member of your team can get it, if not, ah well its out of the danger zone.

I quite like Luiz he is something different for the PL, typical CB = definately not, entertainment value = 9.5, but for me typical Brazilian CB, lots of flair/samba in his play, but makes more mistakes than most because he does more on the ball than most (very rarely hoofs it).
