Sad to hear that Fergie Sutherland passed away today. He was better known on the other side of the Irish Sea but had his moment in the sun on these shores with the fabulous Cheltenham Gold Cup win of the exciting 7 year old chaser, Imperial Call, in 1996,and I was happy to collect a small fortune on him,and he was heralded as the next possible Arkle, though he was injured and never reached his true potential. The horse he beat so easily,Rough Quest,went on to win the Grand National that year,when Mick Fitzgerald uttered those immortal words when being interviewed on BBC...."That was better than sex" !
