Do you all remember how strange Adkins was after the last home game v Coventry? Well, I have heard this evening he intended to resign soon after the final whistle for two reasons. His relationship had/has broken down completely with Cortese, in fact he "hates" him and so, with his reputation intact, resignation made professional sense rather than hang on and it all come to tears ( in the Premiership and his reputation lessened). Someone talked him out of it, probably Les Reed.
