Papiss Cisse has done his part to stop speculation about his future intensifying by insisting that he is happy at Newcastle.

We’re used to a story every week linking one of our players with a move away. However, when it is a rumour regarding a striker it is usually Demba Ba who is supposedly on his way out. This week has been different as Cisse has been central to exit rumours, with speculation that Tottenham and Liverpool are both interested in the player.

The Senegalese front man only joined Newcastle at the beginning of the year, and despite a blip in form as of late there’s little doubt that he’ll showcase his phenomenal goal scoring ability soon.

The player has done his best to squash the rumours that he will be showcasing this ability elsewhere. The 27-year-old has insisted that he is happy at Newcastle. Speaking to the Journal, Cisse said:

“I am very happy at Newcastle. I am really happy to be here – nobody knows what the future brings but I am happy to be here.”

Cisse has revealed that one of the main reasons why he is happy on Tyneside is to do with his manager. Speaking about Pardew, the striker said:

“The manager is extraordinary. It is incredible to work with the manager every day – every day in training and in matches we learn something new.

“The moments that I have lived with him are the moments that you dream about before playing professionally. Even if everything isn’t going well he is there giving you support, telling you you are going to score.

“He is always trying to boost morale and that is the kind of thing that you need from a manager.”

I find it funny how everyone, everywhere was saying Cisse is better than Ba when Cisse was scoring. Now Ba is on form and Cisse is having a blip, everyone is saying Ba is miles better than Cisse, and fans from other clubs are saying he's over rated. lol!

Spuds are linked with Cisse again today... let them be linked is what I say.
Mike will put them off with his sky high valuation... job done.

If the press had their way we would be left with only shola up front by the end of jan.

Are we a January transfer club? Was just thinking about the lack of Summer activity, with its inflated prices and deadline day occurring some 3 matches into the season, and wondered if we were a bit more focused on the mid-season one instead?

I think it makes sense, if we are. It's much easier to put clubs off with stupid prices (Carroll, anyone?!) and also you can exploit players who are about to exit contracts with lower-than-value offers. Look at Debuchy - they wanted, what, £7m (or kept bumping the price up) but come January, when the furore has died down and he's another 6 months into winding his contract down, they'll take £5m. Plus it gives your squad a boost at arguably a more important time than at the very start of the season - by January, you really know your weaknesses, some who have performed well the previous season may start to look on the wane and you can plan accordingly. For us, Ba, Ben Arfa and Colo have been much more vital than those we would have pinned as such before the season kicked off, such as Cabaye, Cisse and Tiote.

I just wonder if Pardew had one eye on January as early as Sept 1st.
