I can't see him resigning. He sounded genuine on the radio when he said he loved managing Southampton. I really can't understand your points about Cortese's involvement in picking the team. We don't have a large amount of youngsters playing in the Prem, it is only really Ward Prowse who has pushed through- I think we can all agree that he has been one of very few positives so far. Largely, it is clear that Cortese is a businessman over a football man- I can't see how he would have an influence over the team. What evidence do you have to suggest that it is 'obvious' that Reed and Cortese choose who to buy?
Let's be honest, your assertions (said with ABSOLUTE certainty) are a far greater leap of faith than working on the basis that a football manager picks the team he plays. Don't be daft.
CBK there is more evidence to suggest that Real Madrid are currently 'tapping up' Richard Chaplow and Steve De Ridder to boost their Champions League ambitions than video footage of Cortese handing Nigel the teamsheet for West Brom.

I'm glad we are not at war for if I was in an army made up of most of our fans I would be concerned that when it came to a fight most of them would run away and hide, wet their pants or cry with fear. Most of our fans are a bunch of back stabbing cowards who would run away if you said boo to them. I am right beside Nigel and all you Guly, Fox and Borac haters can crawl back under your stones. I love Southampton Football Club and it deserves better fans than many of the idiots who post on these threads. Too many of our fans have been brought up on a diet of shows like Britain has got talent where talentless people are offensively rude to people who get off their arses and get on with life. Over the last few weeks some utter crap has been posted on this site by a small number of morons with a combined IQ of 2 and most people know who they are yet have dignified their crap by responding to it. I go to a match to watch my team and cheer them on and to SUPPORT them win or lose and that comes with a degree of maturity. This site has been taken over by the children and they are now welcome to it. I shall now enjoy the company of men in my local and leave this site to the kiddy keyboard warriors who would **** their pants if they came face to face with the people they so easily insult on their computer.

We won't sack Adkins unless we have a suitable manager lined up. Will Cortese be looking? I think so. Every business has a contingency plan. Let's get behind Adkins for the foreseeable. If he's not delivered in the next 3 games then a change will be a must if we want to stay up as he will have lost the dressing room. Stability requires an element of progress and we're in danger of going backwards right now. Morale is low right now. I think its time for the fans to be that 12th man and roar the team home. No more booing, it can not help the team in any way. Everyone is frustrated but the players need a boost and there not going to get that from any other clubs supporters. I want Adkins to succeed but he is making more and more mistakes. I have said in previous posts that he's acting like a man under pressure with the constant tinkering of the players. Strange formations and substitutions etc. I admire his attacking ethos but it's not doing us any favours right now and showing a lot of naivety. We've had a few unlucky injuries and the lack of defensive signings has not done us any favours but every club has injuries at some point and 99% of teams build a solid defensive foundation first and build on that. The exception being Barca (but we are not them) In summary. Sort it out quickly Adkins, you have my support whilst you are the manager but I do believe he's now out of his depth!
There is such a thing as no smoke without fire. However, there is absolutely NOTHING to suggest that Cortese/Reed are currently in full control of team selection. If there is and I am missing it PLEASE enlighten me. Not actually expecting a photo or video but if you do have such a thing that would be great. Thanks in advance!
I sort of agree with you Godders in that I will support Saints through thick an thin. In terms of this thread I've become frustrated (and not just on this thread) by assertions against Cortese/Reed that are based on scurrilous and unfounded rumour, and just seem to be regurgitated to suit personal bias. That's equally as unhelpful as questioning the manager or player performance in my opinion. Where I do disagree somewhat though, is that this is a forum for people to express opinion. There are some idiotic opinions, and there are some very erudite and considered ones too (I've been particularly impressed by, for instance, Mikey's thoughts recently). That's really the nature of the beast no? I don't think (bar Gomarchingin) that this really indicates an genuine lack of support or love for the club by people though?
How convenient. I'm not disputing that there may be some fragment of truth in those rumours. My point is, I don't actually know. Any more than you do. I suspect that Adkins picks the team, quite strongly. However, what I'm objecting to is you TELLING everyone like some font of knowledge, that it's DEFINITELY the case that Reed/Cortese do this and that. If anything is "head in sand" it's that attitude.
If Cortese were choosing the side then why has Mayuka not been playing as he is the new transfer. Moreover, not only has Mayuka not been playing, but his place is seemingly occupied by Jason Puncheon. I would think that if Cortese were picking players Puncheon would be the LAST guy he would pick. Mayuka may have forced his way into the side at this point based on play, but he was hardly given a free place. If anything, it has taken him longer than most of us would have liked. Looking deeper, I don't think there is anything unusual about Clyne, Davis, Ramirez, or Yoshida starting. The only player where I could see it maybe being suspicious is Jay Rodriguez as he was brought into a position where Saints had just signed two players a half season ago, and Billy Sharp was never given much of a shot and Rodriguez has been a little disappointing thus far. But that's one out of six players. I don't think it's odd that either Adkins made a mistake or just feels differently than the fans. And there were questions about Sharp, he was hardly nailed on as a starter. The most questionable decisions have been things like sitting Lambert for Do Prado. And I can't see where Cortese has a huge stake in Guly playing.
Phew. A sensible post...... May I give the suggestion that Mayuka hasn't been playing because.....shock, horror.....Cortese doesn't pick the team.....
