Who else did he sign, who was any good.

ANd dont say paddy, who out of 4 years, we've got 6 months out of him

If you cant go up when you;ve got kilkenny, howson, johnson, beckford, becchio, snoddy in yourside, theres something wrong.

Should have got sack for not winning the league that year

He shouldn't have got the job in the first place - far too inexperienced.

We're not a training ground for up and coming young managers to learn their trade. All we needed to do was appoint an experienced manager who knew how to organise a defence, something which Grayson could never manage to do - and still can't judging by the fact Huddersfield let in four goals at Millwall - and he's got money to spend there.

On the other hand Norwich had quality in more areas with Fraser Forster in goal, Adam Drury at LB, Whitbread at CB, Russell Martin at RB, Hoolahan as creator and Grant Holt upfront. Cup commitments took a lot out of us beating Watford after Extra Time in the league cup, then getting knocked out in a highly competitive match against Liverpool. We won at Old Trafford and got a draw at WHL, requiring a replay. Not to mention getting to the JPT northern area final over 2 legs, perhaps Grayson's only mistake going too strong in this competition, however there are the rules about how many 1st teamers have to start to consider. In the end a hugely successful season.

He may have been inexperienced, but he took over a team who had just lost 5 in a row including an embarrassing defeat to Histon, and completely transformed the teams fortunes. He strengthened the defence and went on an incredible run of wins at Elland Road starting with Posh in January, and won every home game after this.

Also Grayson was a division above Leeds, so we should be grateful that he stepped down to solve the mess we were in. Then after his sacking from us he went back down to that level and once again finds his club above Leeds (only early days, so hopefully that will change).

Wasn't he succesfull at Blackpool while operating on an even smaller budget?

Difference there was he did not have a chairman undermining him. In my opinion, reading between the lines, that is.

His Blackpool budget in their last season was bigger than the one he had in each of our last two seasons under him (£13m vs £12m [or lower]).

    Please elaborate/clarify.

How much did he have at each club in each season?

What budget are you referring to? Transfer fees, wages, both?

So you're saying he's a **** manager who somehow managed to get Blackpool promoted on a tiny budget?

He got them promoted from the 3rd tier through the play offs

The same play offs he failed to get through with the best team in the league with us.

I don't know much about Blackpool's budget but in fairness I did say "he was never going to get Leeds United promoted". I'm not sure whether he woulda been able to get Blackpool promoted from the champ that season they did though, his signings didn't speak of someone who knew how to work with a small budget. Don't get me wrong hes not a bad manager and I worshipped him when he was at leeds but I felt we were never going to progress

Blackpool wages of £13m - Guardian article (on Swiss Ramble too IIRC).
Our wages, transfer fees and agent fees of £12m - Bates.

Can find the links later, got to dash now.

I remember Bates saying that it was supposed to be 12m but we were over budget to 13m and he wanted it back down. Not gonna claim to know anything about Blackpool, but don't worry you dash now
