Nah Stoke could easily be nicknamed "the dogs of war" these days. Wonder who else has revelled in that nickname
That sums up my experience with alot of Evertonians, a bluenose I know told me his greatest footballing memory was when Michael Thomas scored for Arsenal to deny us the league, this is someone who was old enough to remember Everton winning the league.
Michael Thomas has knack all to with us winning a game, which is what I was talking about & in the context I was refering to, it'd have been truly superb. Nice try
What exactly has how recent it was got to do with anything. Stoke have been in the Prem for donkeys so hardly a stretch of the imagination they modelled themselves on the blue ****e "dogs of war" team from the '90s is it? Not very smart are you "mate"
Route 1 Everton with Drunken Duncan up front was in business until around 2006?, hardly as far back as Boots would have us believe.
Stoke play some lovely stuff.. Interchanging strikers in Crouch and Owen, the movement of them two.. Corr, Charlie Adam spraying delicate precise passes all across the midfield, he makes passing look easy. Cattermole is a great player too, similar to Cazorla in many ways, he's a pleasure to watch (even though he plays for Sunderland). And the way they pass the ball out from defense is something to admire, Huth is Stokes Pique.
Unfortunately for Stoke Cattermole plays for Sunderland Now if you'd mentioned Delaps balletic throwing action I'd have agreed with you it's who Phil Neville bases hhis long throw ins on apparently. Sumptuous stuff it really is.
Donkeys? they came up in 2008 didn't they? then again you're probably one of those who thinks football started in '93, so it might be 'donkeys' to you. btw 'mate' is a friendly term amongst scousers Bjorn.
Yeah 2 years after "Big Drunc" left Woodisons "Dogs of War" So you see what I'm getting at now? Just for the record I realise "mate" is a friendly term amongst Scousers and there's good reason I know it "lad". Or should I say Hewel or Barry or some other Prestatyn bluenose type name?
Ah, now there's your mistake petal, as the dogs of war was Joe Royles side of the mid nineties, & it referred to the midfield battlers. So that'll be a fail lid.
I watched the first half in Shearers bar before the Toon v West Brom match. Seemed like both teams played some good football, so was surprised at Gerrard's comments. Came across as petty and a little childish. He really needs to start doing a bit more of his talking on the pitch. As a neutral, I think his game has dropped considerably from his level of say 5 years ago.
People from St Helens and Runcorn say "lid" kid I'm well aware of who the Dogs of War were ya mong (let's not even bother discussing Big Druncs first spell at Woodison shall we or you'll get even more confused). The relevance is about the style of football the blueshite played long after the mid 90s. My initial point was that rather than Everton being the new Stoke its Stoke who are the new Everton. It might help if you read a bit slower and absorb some of my wisdom rather than just flapping around like a typical "bitter" Hope this helps.
Ah right, nice side step. Wisdom? haha, I've scraped more intelligent beings off the bottom of my boot. btw - mong? Is that really called for or appropriate for a football forum? Lighten up love, you come across as all bent up & contorted with rage & bile.
