Lucky, we've no strikers, or he'd be dropped.

completely and utterly useless this season.

Amazes me how many rate a player, who struggles with the basics.

Ie trap a ball or pass the ball 5 yards

    Probably get a hatrick tonight

He was never the most technically gifted.

But he was certainly better than this...the injury he got last season then refused to get fixed straight away has got to have something to do with it?!

His 2nd touch is usually a tackle or him trying to recover the ball back after a 1st touch back towards our goal (which he does everytime)

1 goal in open play all season definitely looks bad, but hes helped by the fact he's scored 7 penalties or something

I think you are a wee bit harsh, he has played nearly every game with poor supply and with McCormick out its even more work load on him. Its easy to critise him but he is the one on the field trying his best in difficult circumstances. We haven't our best side out and we have square pegs in round holes at the moment. I would rather have him than not.

Your response is excatly why britain produces no talent at all anymore.

Because far too many accept players who have no ability but run around abit.

He's been poor for 18 months

A lot of ppl say the same thing, that he's had no service.

Thats not my point, balls in to the box hes great still...but when we counter attack and play the ball in to his feet to hold up, for wingers etc to kick on and support, he cocks it up, his 1st touch is so bad his 2nd touch is a tackle. he never angles his body to turn the defender, it literally bounces back off his foot back towards our goal 9/10 times.

He really is playing poorly at the moment.

Good performances while helping out the defence also should not be overlooked. That part of his game is often overlooked, especially the guile with which he does it, is mostly overlooked. Even the referees don't notice it sometimes, which is a good thing!

Last season he was out injured for ages and had no time to get back into things. This season he started off ok with pre-season under belt but, like I say look at the team in general, its not playing well. If we had more strikers as to rest Becchio and rotate I think he may be better. Would you be saying same thing about Ross ? or would you say well he needs more time to get confidence. Becchio is leading the line from the front but he needs more help. Becchio and Ross were playing well together, if Becchio was out I reckon Ross would struggle too. I would love to see Becchio on fire, but you dont have to have the greatest of touches, look at Chapman for us, loads of goals but not greatest of touches.

Thats the problem, he aint leading the line, he's winning no headers and constantly giving the ball away.

Is it too much to ask, for a 10k a week striker, to trap a simple ball ???

Some have questioned the wisdom of sending him out, tonight would have been an ideal opportunity for him.

    Oh well...

Compition is great for places, thats why I could not understand Poleon going? Could have rested or dropped Becchio and put Diouff up front with Poleon, skill and Pace a good combo. Liw you have good points but, I beleive that Becchio is when on song a great foil for some-one like Ross,Diouff, Poleon look at how much of a foil he was for Beckford. I think that you may be underating a little but, I bow to your opinion as you have seen him in action more than me and its only my opinion thats all.

Here no ones opinion is more valued than another's

If it seems like am being strong, it's because he is frustrating me so much

He is vital because if he plays well, we play well

I love Becchio, as has been pretty obvious with my posts, but he's been poor this season. Of course though he's also managed to make it to 2nd top scorer in the league, which isn't bad for a striker off form. We're also not playing to Becchio's strengths, pair him with someone like McCormack or play him in front of an attacking midfielder and two wingers, not next to Diouf in front of a flat midfield. The whole team have been lethargic recently. IMO we need to bring in a striker with pace and play White and Hall on the wings, we've been too slow and unpredictable and there's been next to no decent service for the strikers.

Becchio scores with only touch of the game a penalty!

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember the season, not too many ago, when Leeds United missed about 5 out of 6 penalties given?
