"I just wish someone on the Board would realise that they cannot allow this to fester - they need to provide a clear statment as to what has been going on, what their intentions and plans are, and who are backing them" http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/51276/independent-on-sunday/p1 Not the first time I've seen this sentiment on there
RE your question, that wasn't the only mention of demands for 'answers' and various posts about Jiminez or the board. Along with the various people delighted that the proposed Trust has been mentioned in a newspaper. And this isn't the first thread on CL with the same sort of posts. However, I am too lazy to go back and copy and paste in here, so I'll leave you to win your point if you answer my question.
there are no points to win IA. No, in answer to your question, I don't think the club should issue any statement. I do think though it has become an increasingly insular organisation, and with a number of director and key staff changes against a backdrop of rumour, its not entirely unexpected that some people are asking questions. So no statement, but I do think they should make some effort to up their communication. Slater and Prothero have both rejected multiple invites from supporters groups, the Fans forum has been pushed to the side as has the 5yr VIP meeting, Pothero a la TJ has said nothing since he has been here, and the only two things Slater has said this season have been what a great guy Paul Elliott is, and how he was 'avin it with the Spanish OB. we've also had no chief executive for nearly 4 months, and no sign that one will imminently be appointed. Not going to hound people but do think that some games can and should be upped off the pitch. But that's just my opinion.
Thanks. I can't say that I miss Slater's statements. They were mostly fluff anyway. My understanding was that even last season the directors only appeared at supporters' groups when they had something warm and fuzzy to say. If there are court cases surrounding the staff changes, then there's nothing the club can say about them. I guess I'm not sure what the club can say. Anything positive will be seen (by those vocal people esp on CL who want to) as smokescreen tactics. Anything negative would have obvious implications. Hard to know what proportion of the whole fanbase is even aware of these rumours, never mind worried about them, but that can be argued either way. You've come on here to defend CL, which I understand. For me, there's too much 'I know something but I'm not telling' and too much panicking on there. Plus the trust people jumping on seemingly negative news stories as some sort of mini victory for the trust, before it's even started. I think all of the above do a lot of harm to the club, and provide absolutely no benefit. At least the ostrich stuff has stopped for now.
My gripe is the trust. I think there is a way to go about conducting yourselves when going about such a thing, and the tactics they are using are not only disrespectful to the club but also manipulative to fans. I'm not speaking for everyone who's involved in the trust, but a few posts that have been shown to me suggest they are willing to play a political game. Also the fact it is built upon the summer stories again leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. ''Hard to know what proportion of the whole fanbase is even aware of these rumours, never mind worried about them, but that can be argued either way.'' Well the rumours are starting to make national press, so soon it won't be a matter of how many of our fans knowing these stories, but all teams, players, managers etc. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. Again.
The Paul Elliott story is back in the Mirror again today. And they seem quite confident it will happen...................
More to it. Doesn't want to leave certain commitments whilst there is a lot of media attention on it.
This is on CL,not members only so I feel it is ok to post on here. Airman Brown Member My excellent source within the game tells me that the club has engaged a professional sports recruitment agency to help it fill new senior management team positions at The Valley. The posts will all report to the "non-executive" executive vice chairman Part-time Prothero and are chief operating officer - essentially overlapping Mick Everett's job, chief finance officer - likely to be offered to current head of finance David Joyes if he chooses to stay, and chief marketing officer, recruitment of which is being mysteriously held up for process reasons. This will replace the existing SMT, seemingly downgrading the current senior roles of Dave Archer, Paul Ellison and Matt Wright, and putting Mick Everett's future at the club in apparent doubt. No consultation has taken place with affected staff at The Valley as far as I am aware and it is not clear whether current staff will be given the opportunity to apply for the operating and marketing roles, as appears to be required by law.
Just read it, could it be a man with sour grapes trying to give himself an erection or is there some truth to it?
Everitt famously said he and a few others were running the club. When I was telling individuals about some of the stuff he was saying their response was "Rick who?". They had no idea who the jumped up yup was. At that point I realised he is someone to just ignore. More self worth than actual worth. I would tell him to get back to his kiosk, but that could be a bit insensitive.
I bet Mick Everett in particular is delighted to be namechecked twice as a seemingly unhappy member of staff. Probably a bit of both of Glovepup's options, but I feel his constant online comments will not help Rick Everitt in his legal action.
I think he has popped down to his local pound land and purchased a huge wooden spoon and likes to keep stirring. As with any business changes happen, it's a real shame those who love the club appear to be losing their jobs but some may not like the changes. At my last firm it started changing, the whole ethos, policies etc and the fact I was as risk for redundancy again so I found a way out. Those who leave a company leave for negative reasons and will say bad things to discredit their employers, jeez I know I did! I felt I had been treated badly and was not enjoying the work place anymore. So maybe the same applies here? We don't know everything that has been going on and we won't, but because Airman Brown and others don't like these changes does not mean they are negative does it? I'm going to sit and wait on the sidelines here and see what happens.
R Everett is a hypocritical parasite. A complete publicity junkie, why can't he just walk away without leaving his slime all over the club. How long is he going to stick his snout in that trough?
