Is This Racism Lark getting Out of Hand

Been reading all about Mata and Obi Mikel moaning about Mark Clattenburg using racist language against them. The words " Pot & Kettle " come to mind seeing as players constantly use profane language against refs virtually every game. He is supposed to have said " You Spanish Tw .t " , now how do you make that racist. Had he said you B,,,k Spanish Tw.t I could understand but a Scotsman calling and Englishman is no worse. These players are become shrinking violets and had better get out of the game as it's too manly for them.
( By the way never knew Mikel was Spanish )

 

I believe "Spanish Twat" was directed at Mata, not Mikel. Also, I think that had he just called him a twat rather than adding the nationality he would've gotten away with a slapped wrist.

I think people need to grow thicker skins and get the **** over it. Yes it's not proper conduct for a ref, but people are so easily ****ing offended. Us being offended is absolutely meaningless.

I used to referee a lot and it used ot be called "banter" and "man management". The footballers nowadays are getting all hot under the collar about anything they can, and they will take it out on anyone.

I remmember being at Frithley Athletic a few years ago on the line, and at the end of the game this guy started shouting all sorts of abuse at me - ****, ****er, etc etc. I decided that instead of making a mountain out oif it and having him sent off, I calmly went past him and said "Stop being such a twat, the game's over".

All **** broke loose! The lot of them coming at me, with the manager coming ionto the dressing room after the game to make an "official" complaint. So what did I have to do?

The ref decided to issue a red card to him for foul and abusive against me and I had to admit what I had said before their report went in.

Players think they have the god-given right to **** other people over, but can't take it when it is given back. Such a shame they can't just grow up and be real men

If he has indeed used racist words...and I mean actual RACIST words, then he should have the book thrown at him. If he's just told someone shut up and called them a TW@T, then that's no worse than players subjecting the officials to similar insults. Some could argue that two wrongs don't make a right which of course is true, and as an official he should be seen to be demonstrating some level of authority rather than stooping to the same levels as the players.

That being said, if a referee is being abused and insulted then why doesn't he just issue a card. This of course opens a whole other can of worms as its totally open to interpretation.

If it can be proven that he used racist words then fair enough, but outside of that I think its a very dangerous area to start getting involved in and trying to police. I'm sure there are million and one "better" or more worthwhile things worth concentrating on in the game than a ref calling a player a cock !

Must be really bad if they are not recording it, then there would a verbal assault every match

If the ref emphasized on anyone colour in an insult, Sack him, fine him, Jail him
If not, move on

My dad used to shout you useless Black beep beep all the time when i was a kid, He was not racist however and far from it, Just alcohol, The moment and being brought up in the 60s- 70s and 80s. This is the same as john terry probs and he is being branded a racist across the country
