Official programme 20p. wow it was a long time ago. Although such a long time its a memory that will never fade - i was only a young kid. one of my earliest football memories
I was 5 years old, and its probably the first match i sat down to watch, great to see the Tour clip, brought back a few memories of Millbrook and Shirley i remember the strangest feeling as everyone, everywhere being soo quiet, then the roar when bobby scored
What a great day for our football club. I only wish I was old enough to have experienced it myself! It now being the 35th anniversary makes me realise just how long it's been since we have won anything significant. I just have a sneaky feeling that in 5 years+ time we might not have quite the same need to reminisce and instead go one further and turn those league/fa cup finals, 83/84 runners up season etc into honours! We can dream or will we even need to...?
When Bobby scored it started the longest seven minutes of my life. We were so poorly rated that I felt we were bound to throw it all away. History tells us we didn't and in 35 years I also know that we those of us still here will remember this season with similar fondness.
I was the only Saints fan at my school before kickoff - it was funny to see some more suddenly appear after the game though but at least I had company. I started supporting Saints in 1973, and we promptly got relegated along with Norwich and Man Utd the following summer so this will be my second promotion as a Saints fan. There, I've said it, I am now confident of promotion
