I know, I will not renew if Hughes is still here and we are still playing negatively. Its not the losing that does it, its the fact that we are the dullest team in the league hoping every game ends 0-0 and we only start to play once we are behind because we have no other choice because a 0-0 is out of the window.
DT. I live 5 minutes walk from Morden Hall Park. Gave up fishing years ago. Club fishing only there now from the park to Merton Abbey / Deen City Farm.
The poll is asking whether Hughes should be sacked now- i don't see any reason why now is a good time. 0-1 away to Arsenal doesn't really add or detract from an argument to keep or get rid. Those saying "yes" would have been saying yes after everton too, as nothing has really changed since then. To me it would seem bizarre to sack the guy when we're about to go into 3 games against bottom half sides. Wouldn't it seem more reasonable to see how the team performs in these? It's not as if we played badly at the emirates... if we continue with that level of performance we're probably likely to do pretty well? I'd also add that in three games time we'll have played almost exactly a 3rd of the season. This would seem more of a logical point to make any changes- as a successor would then have twice as long as Hughes has had so far this season to rectify things. It's naive to think that getting rid of Hughes will act like a "magic wand" and instantly make everything better. Sacking Hughes has to be the very last option. I genuinely worry how our little club will cope with all the turmoil that would be associated with a new manager. It's going to be very costly...in terms of management staff and the inevitable influx of new players. Who's to say results would actually improve either? If it gets to the stage where he's got to go, then i suppose it'll have to be done. Make no mistake though, changing the manager is a very very undesirable route for our club to take. It has to be a last resort.
I agree it is a big decision to change the manager, and when we have the right one then we won't need to do this. I disagreed with sacking Warnock for these reasons. But Hughes has been diabolical, a disaster, fara worse than Colin in his worst period, and as Col and others have written on other threads, he shows no tactical nous, and there is no fire in the team. He should have gone after West Ham, latest - now The Board are just wsting time and taking us nearer the drop while delaying what should have already been done. I been away for days and haven't seen the Arsenal game yet, though I may get time tonight, but understand Park didn't even make the Bench - one huge positive for me! But has Hughes seen the light, got approval to drop captain Commercial, or is Park injured?
Great stuff sb_73 as usual left unchecked this entertaining forum would nothing but a vacuum bag that need emptying full of old dog hairs and toxic dust. The good news is that Carlos is back I see hid name as a voter ... bloody silly vote but he is reading Come on Carlos keep back on here because the Lord returns soon ... the second coming of the pork sword.

Park hyper extended his knee during the everton match Os! Weirdly, park's injury actually weakened us...as he was replaced by SWP instead. I think there were legitimate excuses for the West Ham loss, we were still fielding onouha+hill out of position in defence, and Mbia was still adjusting to the PL. Six games into the season would have been far to early to make a potentially club-sinking decision, which is what i believe it could be in the long term. We're already losing 5 million a week apparently, and the financial cost of changing manager/the ensuing instability wouldn't help. I'm not saying Hughes shouldn't be sacked if results continue in their current vein, but the decision has got to be made at the correct time. So many of the current staff at the club are linked to him, and our infrastructure is practically intrinsically interwoven with his presence at the club. It will be a monumental decision if we replace him. Replacing the manager mid-season is probably the second worst thing that can happen to our delicately balanced club at the moment- second only to relegaton (excluding investors pulling out). We should only be doing the second worst thing if worst thing is looming more imminently than it is at the moment...if that makes sense!
Looks like Benitez is the chosen one, odds shortening fast. Not ideal but nothing could be worse than the present idiot.
Much prefer Rafa then 'arry! Rafa actually had a 55.43% win rate with Liverpool and has an average of over 52%. 'arry and 'ughes both in 40%'s. Rafa won the Champs League while with Liverpool and also FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Anyway. Speaking of Mark Hughes it's Full Moon today http://www.chiddingstone.kent.sch.uk/homework/moon/
Yeh, what you say makes sense but the cost of relegation will be far greater, and Hughes shows no signs of turning it around. Playing either Park or SWP, 4 4 2 or 4 4 1 1 at Arsenal, and leaving Ale out all sound very odd to me - but I will see !
Excellent post SB. Completely agree, as do no doubt many forum members. I think the issue here bob is that most can not be bothered to constantly have the same debate. The same people are always banging the drum and many posters can not be bothered to keep contesting/debating the same thing.
