I had a conversation with a mate yesterday who lets say knows his onions and had the same conversation in February before i moved to America. As it stands the club is losing £5mill a month with wages and everything else rolled in. Now quote me if I'm wrong but not even the richest club in the world can afford that and i voiced my concerns back then, are we running a business or a charity here?players like SWP and Park must be on a decent crust and are simply not up to the challenge. Currently were sitting bottom of the league and with some of the team selections and tac-tics it's no wonder we are and there lies my concern.Come January if were still there the club will chuck more money at the squad to try and fix things and the losses deepen. Don't get me wrong we have some great players but were simply not producing the results for the squad we have,i have no idea what the problem is with Faurlin but he would walk into any team below the top 8.It's not just team stability the club needs it's also financial. hemorrhaging that amount of money every month in my view is madness and can only lead to trouble, god forbid we get relegated we have players on long contract, big wages and smaller crowds.what we take through the gates gets nowhere near paying our wage bill even Forrest Gump could figure that out. Tony Fernandes comes across as a nice guy but we seem to have gone to both extremes since Briatore was here,i hope he has a plan financially to stop us going deep into debt again because if he hasn't were screwed. All this keep the faith stuff is all fine and well but is starting to wear a bit thin with me as i want to see some passion and anger coming from him not just fluffy rabbits and cream cakes. If he is the honest man he says he is we would see more passion. I'm not saying he is a fool far from it but it concerns me as to exactly where his true passion lies,he seems to be doing an astounding job with his airline but is that really doing that well?.It might be me but i think there are too many fingers in too many pies to be able to concentrate on us fully. Having met him personally i found him to be very down to earth and approachable but to me that is a failing,i would prefer him to stay off twitter and facebook and just get on with it.
Ade. I agree. My problem with TF is he seems more concerned about winning popularity contests than running a well oiled machine. He strikes me as an accountant who wants to be one of the boys. Buying a football club allows him that luxury. We clearly aren't being run that we'll at the moment. To me the ceaser and green situation shows that. Being well run in the long run will bring the club stability not keeping Hughes as manger. I've said this before and have been told TF has a new method an nothing like Leeds or Portsmouth etc. personally I don't believe this nd we are in a game of chase the ace that's looking increasingly hairy at the moment.
The main problem is the 5 million pounds a month part of this... if this is true then please supply evidence ... I don't know any business in the world that would allow this to happen apart from maybe Flyer's sex toy business ... he has a fluffy rabbit in stock that will discharge cream into your cake hole
Haven't checked the figures personally but players-in plus big staff bill minus revenue from a small ground plus approx £40m annual tv bonus cannot possibly balance the books. That plus developments on new training ground and costs of all works to build a new stadium sounds like our cup runneth over. I agree with the OP, relegation on that basis and all the turmoil that comes with it, will leave us playing rush goalie and using jumpers for goal posts.
I believe Malaga lost over £200 million last season and that's why they had to sell their best players. Some clubs are in big debts but can still run properly.
Were making a short term loss that will massive be reduced or maybe make a small profit next season until the new ground arrives. The new ground plus the new TV money will see us alright as long as Hughes doesnt relegate us. Then we are in real trouble.
Well, if we are really in the hole for 5 mill a month, there is only one logical response.... GAMBLE EVEN MORE! This is precisely why I am not allowed near race tracks or casinos, but I mean it - lets get the stadium built, start producing stars in the academy and buy our way to safety and the £70 m a year Sky dosh in the short term..... No problem, it's all levered somewhere or other anyway.
