Of course neither is guaranteed, but like he says in his post, the question is hypothetical. If a genie popped up and said that there were two choices, get relegated and keep Adkins, or switch to Redknapp and survive, those were the only two options and there was no lee-way, which would you choose? Think it's a perfectly legitimate hypothetical question.
Keep Nadkins, if we get relegated, heaven forbid, I couldn't think of a better bloke to get us back up again.
Rather keep adkins and get relegated.. - Just look at the west brom model.. Remember The 5 year plan after all was the target for prem Football.
keep NA I think he's more important than the players who will come and go I Strongly agree he will keep us up if our key players stay fit and we improve the squad in January. Even if it came to relegation yes we lose a few players but we would still get in exciting young replacements and being financially secure we would not have to sell cheaply.
Adkins. Agree about the five year plan and all that, but it goes beyond football. How can anyone root for a man like that or want him to manage your team? If all you care about is Premier league survival, go root for Man U.
I care about the development of the team , remember when we got relegated last time ? That was a 7 year battle why do you think it would be different ? Going down would.be a disaster not only financially but losing all our best players , they would go for sure .
so four players of average ability will take us back up again ? Say this happens what then ? Where has our bedded in youth gone ? Well they left the season before .
You obviously got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, a bit worried about the reference to bedded in youth, what is that all about?
Didn't Redknapp get us relegated with a decent PL team in 2005? If we sacked Adkins and stayed up with Redknapp I would feel dirty. Have recovered enough that I can see Redknapp on the TV without retching, but manager of Saints...No! Rather stick with Adkins and have a another enjoyable (hopefully) year in the Championship. Of course, I'm thinking with my heart, whereas Cortese (being a financial man) would rather stay up. Cannot see Nicola and 'Arry as natural bedmates though.
You are a cheerful cove, no mistake, not an agent for the Samaritans are you? I guess you think you are being realistic, and no doubt if we get relegated there will be a fire sale of our better players, I don't know for sure what will happen and at the moment neither do you, but you could at least show a bit more positivity, negative speculation, however correct it turns out to be, is very bad for morale. Do me a favour and keep it on hold, you are upsetting the troops.
They would sleep in the same bed if it meant premiership football for one of them and money and recognition got the other .
It makes sense but it is still illogical, because there is no reason why keeping Adkins would result in relegation, and bringing in Redknapp would cause us to stay up. In fact I believe the opposite is true. And I am certain that Redknapp is the opposite of the type of man that Nicola would want in responsibility at the club. Anyway when he goes to QPR in a month or so the rumours will be done.
The sooner that takes hold the better , the point if we go down we will sell an awful lot of our players , here's an example that you won't like and to be honest neither do I but they are the facts none the less , 22 players were sold when we went down , we bought 8 ,they included Brennan , Powell and Dennis Wise . Lets get real if go down it will be a disaster and if we go down for the same reasons of not buying enough quality it would be a tragedy heres a link http://www.transferleague.co.uk/football-transfers/southampton-transfers.html
How can anyone argue they would take relegation and keep Adkins over guaranteed survival? No one player/manager or member of staff is bigger than the club and we have worked hard to get here. The money involved in staying in the premiership is huge! Jesus Christ, there is supporting Adkins and there is supporting Adkins. I hope he is the man to do it, he deserves it, and like others say, changing the manager guarantees nothing but if that guarantee was on the table to consolidate this season I would pack Nigel's case myself!
