You gotta be kidding man Ben Arfa had no business dribbling across the pitch when we were trying to get a goal and the win when he has lost the ball and ended our attack numerous times prior to that. Even Messi knows when to pass

Happy we won but I feel for West Brom. They deserved to win, we were atrocious once again. Not one of our players can say they played well today, it was a completely amateur and feckless performance from everyone involved.

I doubt it. I think he's got an inflated ego from last season.

I think exactly that but there is no shame in reverting back and hopefull he will because alot of managers are so arrogant.

Last season his subs were weird but came off so maybe I'm wrong but this new system is so weird if you ask me the players dont know wtf they are supposed to be doing.

3 points playing ****e and hoprfully we can kick on.

Completely agree, this win did nothing but cover up some cracks (very big ones at that).

HBA was awful. Why is Pardew starting Shola on the right of a front three? Colo got murdered for pace all game by both Long & Lukaku. Cabaye is meant to be our play maker but just couldn't get on the ball. I won't even start about Obertan. Sammy looks poor for me, he runs with the ball but permanently has his head down, bit of a headless chicken at times.

Santon comes out of the game with some credit, he was only average but that's all he had to be to be our best player. Very worrying.

    I totally agree 100%

Sammy is too ball greedy, however he could develop as he has great skill - Shola ffs

Santon always looks to pass rather than hoof.

    Krul was good.

Very dissapoined with a number of players today - no more so than Gutierrez. We've unfortunately gotten used to him in a non-existent attacking form, but for a winger - he is pathetic. Slows down our play, passing its below average and never seen going forward. Would like to see Sammy get a start ahead of him now. But that won't happen. HBA was rubbish today too. Cabaye coming too deep to get the ball, would like to see Coloccini bring it out more often, feeding it into Cabaye further up the pitch.

All in all, **** performance, great result. Didn't deserve it. Onwards and upwards i guess...

On a positive side, we're only 3 points behind Everton, who everyone seems to have masturbated over this season. Can't be doing that bad can we?

Yep. I've never seen much in Sammy and I'm really surprised that a few people on here think he's going to be a big player for us in the future. I've said before that the only thing going for him is his last name and I stick by that, because by actual ability he's shown sod all. Everyone gets on Obertan's case for being thick (and today I agree with them), but Sammy is even worse.

You're right about Santon too. He was good at times, although other times he seemed to completely disappear while the opponents got free reign down the wing.
Krul made a good save but I think he should and could have saved the disallowed goal. Fortunately for us it didn't come to anything but even so.

Randy712 mentioned Jonas while I was typing this post, and I have to agree with him also. He's lost a lot of pace over the past couple years, and he doesn't draw the amount of fouls that he used to. He used to provide a good escape as he could get the ball and run up the wing, and usually we'd end up with a free kick, but for whatever reason that isn't in his game anymore and I think his role needs to be questioned a little. I wonder if in the future, should we continue with a 4-3-3 he could be replaced by either Perch, Anita, or Bigirimana. One of those and Tiote could sit back and let Cabaye play further forward. If we play 4-4-2 then we really do need to use someone else in Jonas's place. I'd like to see Ferguson given a good chance as I've been very impressed with him so far.

I'm not slating Williamson just for the sake of it as he was no better/worse than any other player for us today. However, I do think when he plays that our carpet football becomes non existent due to his nervousness on the ball. He is the main reason we go long so often. I'd love us to sign a quick (this is a must), strong centre half that can also bring the ball out of the back.

Basically I want a Woodgate clone from his early injury free days with us. A player like that could transform us, we'd be much more solid and it would help players like HBA and Cabaye get on the ball and dictate games. At the moment none of our centre backs are blessed with enough pace to recover from any positional mistakes etc.

Dude?! Win after a european week? What are you smoking? Count your blessings.

The reason we're not playing as well this season compared to last is Tiote. Perch does his job well but he's purely a defender. Cabaye plays deeper and can't make our game. That's why Tiote on song is so important to us, he gave the whole team the confidence to play further upfield. I also feel we miss Raylor bigtime. His delivery is what won us 2-3 games a season. Our setpieces are woeful.

We're playing Jonas and Perch to fill Tiote's role and that leaves us a man short further upfield. We keep trying to beat players on halfway, it often works, only to be given away 20 yards further up. How often do Benny or Obertan and Santon beat players only to give it away cause they have no where to give it or run into a wall of defenders?

Agreed, the way I see it is we've been poor all season. So if we're going 4-4-2 (or whatever formation for the matter) then bringing in Fergie & Bigi can do no harm. Fergie could do no worse than Jonas and the same with Bigi if he took Tiote's place, admittedly Tiote didn't play today but he's been average at best this season.

Even if they were just as bad as the senior players at least they'd be getting game experience so there would be some sort of positive. It might also help some of the senior players up the anti a bit.

Liverpool will trounce us at home if we play like that, however you can see thee confidence of last season is far gone . If we can get back to basics and get a result a Anfield we can really kick on
