Ranger74. I agree with you. No one is under the illusion that mackie is George bests love child. But he's the best option we have on the rhs. Mackie hasn't got roasted as he's scores some important goals for us in the past. SWP hasn't. So I'll play the percentages with mackie, he'll miss a few and make a few. Yesterday was a miss that he made all by himself. Didn't waste anyone else's hard work, just his own.
When you're in a scrap then you want someone like Mackie who is fearless, direct and sets an example wit his work rate. I'd find a place for him in the team, whether it be on the wing, up front or even at right-back with Bosingwa filling in for Mbia.
At least mackie took the defenders on and got into a goal scoring position, that can't be said for SWP Zamora or cisse yesterday
No one would have seen it, wed have all fainted at the sight of SWP beating 3 players! Mackie went to put it between the keepers legs and players are taught not to hit it near post as hitting it across the goalie can result in an easy tap in on the rebound.
SWP would have baulked at the first defender and tried to get rid of the ball and probably succeeded in giving it back to the Gunners. Before anyone criticises Mackie did anyone else have a proper shot at goal during the game? I'm serious. If so, I must have missed it. Granero missed when frankly it would have been easier to put it away but apart from that???????????
