He did. I quote 'I know exactly what I'm talking about. If your from shields (like I am) you are niether a Geordie or a mackem. There is an even split down the middle with regards the team supported. To call some one from shields a geordie supporting sunder loan is ridiculous. Shields is actually closer to queerside then it is Newcastle.' And if your referring to 'he said queerside', i'm not even entertaining such a banal and unimaginative attempt at an insult.
If you not clever enough to read what's in front of you then what's the point. I said shields was closer to queerside than NEWCASTLE not Tyneside. We use the term queerside as a derogatory term for Sunderland. Are you really this stupid. By the way, the county south shields is in is Tyne and Wear. You want to argue the point on that as well.
It's also under SOUTH TYNESIDE council, bell end. Clue? It's also on the banks of the RIVER TYNE. Clue? My point was about Geordies, not geographical location, i put my hands up to not reading your post correctly, doesn't move Shields out of Tyneside though, does it?
I'll tell you what mate, we will draw a line under this, know one said shields wasn't part of Tyneside. But you go to any of your mackem mates from shields and tell them they are a Geordie and see what they say.......probably the same thing any newcaslte fan would if they were called a mackem.
I know Memphis, but growing up there with a mix of both supporters, you realise that it's neither one or the other. I've sat drinking with fellas who have followed Sunderland longer than our friend here has been on this planet and they give me constant grief about how I come to support Newcastle given that the closest team to my home town was Sunderland. I've also had discussions with people from newcastle itself who class shields as a mackem town. Bottom line is, it doesn't matter where your from, it's who you follow.
Jarramag is talking a load of absolute bollocks. 'Geordie' is a term used to describe anyone born on Tyneside. That includes Newcastle, Gateshead, Jarrow, Shields and so on. It has sweet **** all to do with football. People tend to refer to Newcastle supporters as Geordies. However, unless they're from Tyneside, it's factually incorrect. If they are from Tyneside, even Shields, or Jarrow, or anywhere in Tyneside, they're Geordies. Any Sunderland supporter born in Tyneside is a Geordie. Any Sunderland supporter born on Wearside isn't a Geordie. However, mackems (i.e. Sunderland supporters) may not like being called Geordies as the term is usually used far more when talking about Newcastle supporters. It doesn't mean it's factually correct. It's just how it's commonly used. 'Mackem' and 'Magpie' have **** all to do with 'Geordie'. They're strictly footballing terms. Geordie refers to the area you were born in.
Don't mock Chappaz, he's one of the few mag fans who comes on here with reasoned points and makes you guys look good.
