We deserved something from the game today and I think it showed that we are still going in the right direction , I am proud of the way the guys played and if that wasn't an advert to show that we deserve our place in the Premier League, I don't know what will.

My point is that amongst our posters there are those , few though they may be, who I feel still don't believe that we are where we are on merit, that believe we will struggle , that Laudrup isn't capable of doing a job. Can they after todays showing say that we are not capable of going to the next level? Citeh in my opinion were lucky, at best they deserved a point, 3 was a travesty and I defy the naysayers to argue that I'm wrong!

there's no doubt we deserve to be at the top tier, i felt gutted but proud at the end of that one, we were certainly worth at least a point. on our day and with a fit squad to chose from, we can give anyone a game. Laudrup is moving in the right direction, i like Michu playing up front, tho would prefer to see Dyer start over Pablo. i think our only real weakness is lack of strength in depth, especially defensively. Chico and Ash need to play the full season.

I think everyone reckons we are there on merit, including all the media people and opposition players/managers . i have never seen a jack think any different TBH but of course alot of us just hope we can stay here, nothing wrong with that when you consider what promoted teams like west ham throw around money wise!!

Its always gonna be difficult for us, a good season will mean more will be targeted by other teams, the manager (if we stay up) will become a target, thats the reality for us so its never gonna be easy.

As said above, proud and gutted about the man city game and that says alot about how well the team are doing, thing is there is no points for good performances and the last thing i think we should do is ASSUME we are here to stay! bigger teams than us get relegated every season and playing budgets dwarf our team, we should be confident but not over confident, this is a trap i feel the te players sometimes fall into as well, every game is going to be a battle and i dont subscribe to the "we are better than at least 8 teams" idea either.

We struglle against workmanlike sides,of which there are many, we play good football against the big teams but ultimatly get undone by a world class player/players so we fall into between two stools a little bit.

Im cautious about maintaining survival and i think everyone at the club should be, we are at our best when the chips are down and we are the under dog,we have ALWAYS struggled when we are favourites or when we are "nailed on to win" ala Reading, wolves last season etc etc.

We are all proud of the boys but the moment we think we are part of the prem furniture is the moment we start to slide as a club on and off the field <ok>

At the end of the game, I was gutted, but I had that proud feeling that beat it down with a stick.

We gave the current champions a bloody good run for their money, and for long periods of the game we had them in our back pocket. Yesterdays game really showed how far we have come. It took a wonder goal to defeat us, and I'm sure all Man City fans will agree that for them to earn 3 points was very, very lucky.

    Spot on.

Unfortunately we have more than our fair share of negative and, let's be honest here, downright stupid supporters. We're always going to have to tolerate them.

It tells you how much we have improved, when were all gutted that we never got anything after out playing at times the Champions. Some teams look to go there and keep the scoreline down, but we went for it and only un done by a wonder strike from a world class player.

I'm so proud of the lads onwards and upwards and to three points off Chelsea next week.

Oh and a win against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Well one performance doesnt make a season and if we were the real deal then surely we would be beating teams like Reading at home ??

Its difficult not to go overboard when we see a performance like yesterdays a nd as laudrup said at the start of the season, there are going to be bad days, bad weeks and bad months but we should enjoy the performances when we get them, im very pleased we performed well under no pressure, trouble is the players have now moved the bench mark higher up so they need to maintain this level .

Norway, I agree one performance doesn't make a season. What our season to date tells me is the improvement in the side. Only loosing 1-0 to the champions, and being gutted. But getting draws after going behind against Sunderland and Reading, something we would have struggled with and did last season.

That is very true Never, performances on the whole have been very good and its great to see us play against city and not be indimidated like we were last year, the problem for us though is the teams we EXPECT to beat! that has remained and im hoping that Laudrup gets this sorted out, which i beleive he will .

This is a great week for us, the players can go out and play football without the stress of having to get a result, it will enable us to progress our understanding alot faster, the better teams allow us to play our game and that helps our confidence, last season we took beleive from the difficult start we had, i beleive the same will be true after this week <ok>

Norway, agree again. I think at times were better playing teams like City as the pressure is off. The games we should be competing to win is sometimes our achilies heal.

Which is strange considering we played similar teams every week in the ccc and had no real problems with the up and at em approach!!

Thats probably what i find frustrating, the fact we beat the like sof Norwich and reading in the ccc regular, maybe they see us as their cup final ? ...<laugh>

Lets see where we are at the end of the season shall we...One win in 5 games dont make a season....How many times have we played great against the top sides and struggled against the bottom sides....we have saints soon and they are crap and we should be beating these sides with ease...I bet we dont though....dont get carried away with one good performance as remember we lost at the end of the day and thats what matters

I did notice that was your opinion and stated it on the Southampton board, probably not a good idea wouldn't you agree ,if they played as well as they did in the second half against Spurs for 90 minutes against us then we're in for another battle
