I thought Elmo looked a bit awkward running down the wing second half. Worrying.

True, apart from the chance missing ratio we looked dangerous, it's frustrating to read the negative comments on here as we put on a good show on live TV. Evans was far from a negative, but you don't notice the defensive midfielders sometimes.

Peter Beagrie's comments that "they've got Mclean on the bench who can terrorize every defence in this league" made me laugh (but only cos we were 2-1 up & he come on in the 90th minute)

First 20 mins we made them look ****..
They seemed to get forward far too quickly to score the equalizer for me, Davies being too fast for McShane to block
After the break it was quite even, Koren's effort which got a slight deflection being the highlight, it would have gone in so defo not a "wasted opportunity"
Quinn's effort was quite tame but they screwed up and it was a goal, pity that some of our nicer moves didn't lead to more goals
Then they had a bit of a go at it, Amos got lucky the ball hit the crossbar, he was off his line, but Brizzie ware indeed all basketball stuff and not really troubling.
When they run out of steam we kept the ball well and played a bit with them..

Defo a deserved win for me. But Brizzie aren't very clever and we'll need to be more clinical against better sides.

It was the comment earlier in the game about us having a lot of firepower on the bench in the form of McLean and Proschwitz because Proschwitz was the top scorer in the German second tier last season. The complete lack of a reason for McLean and the pause after it was as though he'd suddenly realised what he'd said and couldn't back it up with a stat for McLean.

Quality effort by the lads. Great start and the game should have been put to bed by the 30 min mark. But a win is a win and back in 6th place.

Reading took 17 games to get 21 points. Hull City now have 22 after just 13 games.

With Dudgeon and Fryatt done for the season (steve bruce confirms to burnsy after the game) City can get there wages off the books to insurance AND get in replacements.

As for the game tonight. A very enjoyable watch for the few of us who were there. now Sat in my hotel room watching James Bonds last game and having a few beers. A very satisfying week overall. Now with 2 very winnable home games to come next. Barnsley and Wolverhampton.

As was discussed on the trip back from Ashton Gate to the hotel. Wolves have just drawn 2 home games in a week with Bolton and Charlton. Guess we are better off with the loss and win. Shame it was not the other way around though.

Big pity that Blackburn and Middlesboro got late winners But the championship yet again throws up its dog eat dog games. What a league it is.

I watched it in Fair Maid in Cott tonight.

As me and my mate were discussing, we are RIGHT in it at the moment.

Sixth and only a bit off the top, it's where we need to be.

I'm a bit pissed to be frank, but I thought we played well.

Harsh. Proschwitz and Mclean are good impact subs for starters. We have many game changers and match winners in the squad now. FFS, both of them had just scored the goals that had won City the last 2 game pre-Middlesboro.

For me changing Mckenna and Olifinjana with Evans and Koren and going back to 3 - 5 - 2 worked very well. Steve Bruce got it wrong on tuesday but right tonight. Oh to be a manager eh ?

What I thinks gets a lot of us frustrated is that we are so very very close to being a good side in a tight division. If the players could just sharpen up the tackling, approach to winning the second ball and making the right passing decision we be amongst them. But agree, a wins a win and it makes up a little for the piss poor performance at Middlesborough the other night.

I can live with the poor efforts @ Lesta and Middlesboro.

What annoys me are the results from Blackburn and Charlton away and Peterboro and Blackpool at home. FFS, Hull City could and should be 9 points better off and sitting pretty on the Top of the Championship with 31 points. Oh well, Only 33 games left to play.!!! Lol.

How is it harsh? The commentator on the feed backed himself into a corner and it made me laugh listening to him realise it. It was obvious from about half way through him saying Proschwitz was the top scorer in Bundesliga2 last season that he wanted to make an equivalent comment about McLean and that he wasn't going to be able to.

As for our subs, compare it to their bench, a quick tot up on Sky has them having 12 goals this season from the players they had on the bench, we'd had 5. It's laughable for a commentator to say we had plenty of firepower when we've got less than half the goals on our bench that the side second bottom in the league has.

Really enjoyed the game, and the first goal was one of the best I have seen for a while. I thought it was a good all round team performance, Koren was a bit in and out, but I guess being out for a few games he needs to get match fit. Aluko and Quinn were the best players for me, and Elmo on the right, even though he is not 100% fit, was always a treat. Thought Bruce had a solid game.

i thought we where the better team and deserved it..
a bit patchy, but when we put some of our moves together we look at times as good as anybody in the league..
was pleased to see bruce wasnt happy after the game as well because of the slack finishing, would have been very easy to just enjoy the win, but shows hes a natural winner, i am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of his all the time..
good night out afterwards too, only just coming round <ale>

Thank **** someone watched the game!

    Certainly not good.

Steve Bruce has it right when he says our biggest problem is individual errors; eliminate them and we are a very strong team.

Our biggest problem is that we have a paper thin squad, a couple of injuries and we're screwed.

    Eh?

How can you say anyone is 'streets ahead' of Chester at tackling. He's an amazing tackler, one of the best I've seen at any level and probably better than most PL defenders at tackling.

Back to the game, I thought the best chance we missed was Simpson in the first half when he tried to flick it even though he had time to take a touch and shoot properly. Mind you he probably thought he was offside like he usually is. Like Ricardo said, the one-on-one wasn't that easy from such a tight angle. I know I always go on about it but Fryatt last season missed far easier one-on-ones than that and no one said anything.

I think people are just frustrated that we don't achieve as much as we should with our dominance. Sky will be thinking that if we play like that every week we'll win by 3 or 4, but they're not realising that we do play like that every week but we conspire to concede at the worst possible time for ourselves and end up ****ing it up, such as Peterborough, Blackpool, etc.

Also I don't see how McShane is yet again being defended for his part in giving away a goal. Look at the replay, it's obviously his man who scores. I think Chester might have lost his man just before that too (the one who set it up) but McShane was definitely at fault, he was miles from his man and he scored easily as a result.

You have a point! But when all present (and some not) we are strong.
