Maybe an injury is the only explanation mate. Still shows the decision to sell HH as yet another awful one from Hughes.

    Yeah.

    =============================
Fulham manager Martin Jol has hit back at his former striker Bobby Zamora after the player claimed that "the vast majority'' of the West London club's players do not get on with him.

    • Zamora: Players don't like Jol

Zamora, 31, moved to Queens Park Rangers in January amid reports of a frosty relationship with Jol. The striker confirmed that had been the case this week, and went a step further when suggesting most of his former team-mates shared his feelings.

However, Jol responded: "It is probably sour grapes. I think nothing is what it seems.

"Everyone knows me. The players know me so one player will say this, another player will say that. It doesn't matter. I don't care. For me, the most important thing is we get the results so you will have to ask the players. If they do well and work hard, I try to get a good relationship with them. If not, I don't.

"Insiders here know that this probably started after two weeks of me being here. There was a few leaks in the paper and I asked him and he said: 'No, it wasn't me'. I knew it was him and his agent 100%. He said: 'No, it wasn't me. I hate the press'. He hated defence and later said he hated crosses as well and that was the moment I thought 'maybe it is better to sell' and that is what we did.''

He's had plenty of games - he's woeful to say the least and I think that the majority of R's fans think the same, at least all the one's I know do.

Yeah he's had lots of games as a lone striker and yes he has been poor but just think he needs a partner up front

The thing is, when you give him his partner, then we loose a man in midfield and get overrun. It's just down to buying players that doesn't fit your system. It's clearly lack of vision of any kind.

I said to my friend yesterday that we don't win anything in the air in opposition half since Helguson left.

I thought we had seen the last of the pro BZ posts after his recent dire performances. A few were blinded by his goals early in the season but he was doing little even then IMO. Our midfield are more than capable and a decent striker would be revelling in the opportunity. MH is too desperate to have height up front but there is no point to that if your big man never wins a header.

Personally, I would say that BZ was a major problem today. When he fails to hold the ball up, the team is effectively trapped in its own half (or just inside the oppositions) as a through ball or little dink over the defence will do nothing as BZ has about as much pace as an Oak tree.

in zamoras defence, for a year he was crap at ffc, we accepted a 5m bid from hull, i offered to drive him there, then after that he was a changed player, immense for 2 years, would i have him back no, we have moved on and while we have berbatov we look o.k, i will enjoy berba for the short time we have him

He was never fast - but when he's in the right mood, he's fast (and strong) enough to get there.

At the moment though, he looks like he was when we tried to ditch him the first time. He rates himself very highly.

Zamora's not a goal scorer - and on recent performances doesn't help the cause in any way. How many of his passes go astray? How we've managed to neutralise Cisse after last season, I do not know.

Did Hughes really think an aging, injury-prone AJ was going to be our goal threat this season? Defies all logic. Certainly none of us did. Sure no one could've predicted a cruciate injury but come on, look at AJ's record.

I just thought Hughes had grabbed AJ on a free as back up for a killer coming in to support Cisse. Now it seems Hughes WAS depending on AJ. Fantasy football imo.

Result: like most aging men, Hughes has left us impotent.

This should have really been a no brainer, to cover that position, as an alternative front man when Zamora was injured or not up to the job, as it currently appears. Doesn't help when Cissé is obviously off his game too. I would have liked a Helguson/Mackie/Taarabt old boys combination - bet that group would have snared a few more goals too.
