excellent win at bury, well played. remember you are just one point in front with an inferior gd and the prospect of hosting thos thames estuaryites. we entertain oxon. i wish wobblers all the best and if you are promoted try and stay up and keep us a place. i have enjoyed our banter and there may be more to come, er wibble wobble
Unbelievable result today. For once many of us Wycombe fans will be cheering on the lot from up the M40 next weekend.
cheers aj i just got back home what a fantastic day out and what a time to pull out our best performance of the season, well done on your win today as well
well done a.j. good win away from home for you too and you have made it run into the final game of the season to see who takes the final automatic promotion spot. Whichever side ends up in the playoffs stands a good chance - Gillingham have had a couple of dire results at home to Barnet & Macclesfield, Stevenage lost and had 2 sent off today. Torquay look perhaps the best equipped, Accrington have had a great season but I'd be surprised if they did anothe Dag&Red Today as far as I am concerned is one of the great WWFC performances of recent times, turning over an already promoted outfit on their own turf. To recover from going behind and play like we did in the 2nd half was incredible. Some of the best football I have ever seen a WWFC side play second half. The fans were also tremendous
agreed dj i am buzzing what an atmosphere from the blue army and where did that performance come from
Great result, gutted i couldn't go as i would have loved to. Great to see the team all pulling together, and especially pleased for Strevens who works his socks off most matches with no reward. Unfortunately, the team that comes 4th usually isn't promoted, its such a psychological thrashing to get so close but then lose out. As said below however, it would be nice to carry on the shrews banter in league 1, and I'd much prefer to play you than accrington or stevenage thugs again.
Popular misconception theblues. The 4th place team have got promoted via the play offs in 5 of the last 10 seasons so all not lost if we end up in them. In fact the 1 year we got through them we were 4th and the two years we didn't we were 6th and 7th. Although hopefully it will not come to that!
Very good result for you lot, well done (didn't see that coming at all). Well, we both know what we need to do now. So, all the best..
Brilliant game for the Blues, one of our best away performances in aseason when we've been strong on the road. Particular vote of praise for two unsng heroes... i thorugh Big Leon and Dave Winfield were immense at the back...keeping the best striker in League Two quiet all day other than the well dodgy penalty. A day when it was great to say you were there!
there are 2 lessons to be learned about promo 1 get promo 2 stay up brentford have been successful how many others in recent years rochdale, notts county are clinging on. i would go for promo if i thought the shrews could stay up. i suspect we both could finish in the top 16 until we establish a position. note not one bit of banter here. almost a sensible response for a change
Rochdale are 9th, Bournemouth are in the playoffs, Notts County have had poor management this and last season yet may still stay up and Dag&Red are still in the fight to stay up despite having a remarkably underwhelming team. This proves teams from league 2 can stay in league 1, and this was one of my gripes about last season. If we had just bought 1 half decent striker at the start of the season, we would have easily stayed up but Hayes was too arrogant to spend any money until it was too late. The step up to league 1 isn't huge, and a team with solid management usually stays up, because there are always teams that don't have that. (ie. Plymouth and Swindon this season, and Stockport, Southend and Wycombe last seson). If Wycombe go up, I just hope this time round we can spend a bit of money on filling in the weak links of our team (our fullbacks, left-mid and cover for our centre backs), otherwise its back to league 2 again.
Well done and glad to see someone kick Burys butt. It's going to be a fun filled last day for all of us.
theblues - I agree wholeheartedly, I've seen Wycombe play near the bottom of the Conference and near the top of League 1 and everything in between. There are obviously some teams that are way too classy for League 1 - Norwich, Leeds, Southampton, Charlton and (dare I say it) MK Dons. But apart from the really good sides at the top of Lg1 and the really poor sides at the foot of the Conference, there isn't much to choose between them. Watch Crawley next season. Having said that, whether we go up or not, we need to do some serious investment next season.
teams like exeter have proved that teams that go up from our division can survive and i hope whether its us or the shrews they survive and build upon it the next season
Yeah I have to admit that if we don't get promoted, I am glad its the Salopians that will be going up. Accy will never survive, Stevenage just kick teams off the park (shown again by their two sent off in the last match), Torquay have no cash and the Gills just annoy me because of that diabolical away end and the prices they charge to sit in it (sad reason i know - sorry Gills fans) I do think that either us or the Shrews would stand the best chance of survival and surely deserve something for being up there pretty much all season
agreed slasher but if its the shrews that go up they have to get rid of the ginger one if they are to survive
