How much is a reasonable amount for a family to pay for the privilege of a matchday mascot? It seems that football clubs are ripping off their most fervent fans by charging extortionate prices for their children to walk onto the pitch with their heroes. Top of the heap swansea city, who were in profit to the tune of £14m this season, are charging £540. Shouldn't this be free at all clubs?
you have to pay???? i thought it was competition winners or something, like you'd get 100 requests from kids to be a mascot per match and some would get drawn out of a hat. but people paying cold hard cash? swansea charging £540? disgusting.
I knew you had to pay but thought it was around £50, something you might be able to stretch to for a birthday treat, not something you would have to save up all year for! how much does CCFC charge, anyone know?
Ego! I have no idea but dare say it's expensive as clubs tend to bundle in extras and call it a package.
I expected so, thats why i reserved judgement on the swans. I suppose its just a simple case of supply and demand, there must be people willing to pay otherwise they wouldnt do it. makes my eyes water thinking about how much the likes of Man utd, Chelsea and Arsenal must charge!
With us the birthday package is £300 for 10 kids and 2 adults involves coaching with a proper coach, match tickets for all in Premier seating, food for kids and a pitch side photo with a City player. That doesn't sound too bad. No mention on website of cost of being a mascot - all home league games sold out but opportunities for F A Cup and away league games. I hope we are not too expensive as it is obvious the kids love the experience. I sit 8 rows back from the pitch, half way, Ninian Stand, so am close to where the children have a kick around with the"official" mascots and the City lad in charge. The thrills they all get, in particular the less than able bodied kids, from taking part bring tears to my eyes. Last season one little girl had severe physical problems (possibly cerebral palsy) but she was as determined as the others to chase the ball around the park and was so obviously proud to lead out the team holding hands with Hudson. If I was her parent I would have been so chuffed and bu££er the cost.
