I think we could do alot worse. His appointment for me would go 2 ways, it would either be a success and he would really make us a team to be reckoned with or he'd be the final nail in the coffin!!! I have to say I'm not sure this appointment would unite the fans. Infact I think very few appointments would unite the fans especially after a few defeats, I would say (being biased) that if a manager like Paul Tisdale came in with a long contract and a long term plan fans would hopefully unite behind him. But given what we've had in the ME era, I think only wins will suffice to now supporting a manager.

Stability is certainly key but tbh I really cannot see any managers who we are likely to get being a safe bet. Everytime I look I think of a manager think of the positives and then there's always negatives. There's certainly managers who I definitely don't want and manager that I'd prefer but I'm not 100% sure about any of them and there's no real stand out candidate, although I would like the club to show some balls and appoint Tisdale!!

I am delighted that George Burley has thrown his hat into the ring especially after the disgusting way he was treated by Sheepwanks! It show's the measure of the man that he wants to come back when we are at our lowest ebb!

I'm with you there, I was a staunch no way we should definitely not go back there until today but like you I think I'm thinking with my heart not my head. But again as you say I think we could do alot worse!!!

As someone else said, he is the best manager we've had in my lifetime and he and his team were what really got me passionate about ITFC! I just hope if he did get the job I wouldn't have to change my opinion of him...

That is my (and obviously shared among us) main concern, his post Ipswich record is good but a little sketchy and I would hate for him to come in and tarnish what is a reputation of Hero or Legend status at this club.

Its only a bit sketchy because he worked for some pretty dodgy chairman! Derby, Hearts & Southampton. He managed Palace when they were in the depths of a financial crisis and please name me any manager that would be a success as Scotland Manager!

My worry is, the consistent differences of opinions that have followed him around. I wonder what he will make of Clegg, however, ME and SC do give the manager the support and he has made the application so he knows he situation hes getting himself into presumably.

He wouldn't be my no 1 choice but he did do good things on a shoestring budget & got us playing decent football so he's better than some names being banded about

on a separate matter - NOT Alan Shearer

Can't argue against that really. Compared to what we have had to endure at ITFC in recent years, just sniffing the play offs again would be marvellous! I think my heart is ruling my head on this one now too - was originally wanting Billy Davies to come in and do for us what he did for a struggling Nottm Forest, but now would love to be transported back to 2000 to see decent football being played by an ITFC team proud to wear the shirt. (Although I do stop short at wanting to hear the incompetent Clegg screech "we are premier leeeeague") Anyone else, but him!
