TWTD thinks that Alan Shearer has been interviewed (TWTD is usually right). I don't think there's much about Alan Shearer that we don't know, so to my mind if I were to interview Shearer that would mean I would want to give him the job (may not be the case for Clegg of course). Immediately all of our reactions would be that he's another Roy Keane, a very high profile appointment. This time I can't think of anyone better. Alan Shearer, like Keane, knows about graft, commitment and quality, but unlike Keane, Shearer wears a smile and appears to have man management skills beyond that of a caveman. Id say I'd be pleased. Thoughts?
Alan Shearer would be a good shout, although im not convinced he is quite ready for the challenge in terms of experiance at all. Im pretty sure we will be seeing Terry Butcher at ITFC instead!
No way do I want elbows Shearer anywhere near our football club! I remember him taking the piss a few years back so he can jog on!
Would be well chuffed with Burley! My first season ticket one 98/99! Guys a legend. Although not my first choice.
Please God not Shearer, previous experience eight matches, one win. Newcastle relegated. The plight we are in requires a manager of a proven track record in this division, this is no time to experiment. Think also he once said that there were no easy matches in the premiership, except Ipswich, this has to be a spoof.
You have to have a few for interview fodder and I am sure he will be one of these. They are just interviewing him to show the fans that they are leaving no stone unturned. You wait at next weeks press conference Smegson will be unveiled as our new manager!
If we appoint Shearer I'm no long supporting Ipswich!! Did nothing at Newcastle, has very little managerial experience, talks rubbish, no thankyou!! I think I would actually be down there in protest saying Evans out!!! Have people not learnt anything!!!!!
he's the last person we want. V. little management experience & he will think he's "the big man" round the club. If we hire him (to paraphrase the sun from a few years ago) "Can this last person who leaves Portman Road, please turn out the lights"
He may have been interviewed but I doubt he will get the job, I forget the exact quote but Clegg said they are looking for an experienced manager and I wouldn't class Shearer as experienced
Guys dont panic, nailed on it wont be Shearer, think it will be Curbs. Praying it wont be any ex Town player!
"Immediately all of our reactions would be that he's another Roy Keane" You and I are going to fall out, Lancy. Please don't ever compare She-ra to that ex-Mackem manager. Final warning. ;-)
Alan Shearer? Remind me what he has achieved in his management career so far? Terrible appointment it would be IMO especially considering you are in relegation zone.
surely shearer is nothing more than an advisor to your owner. didn't they say they wanted someone with experience the other day? red herring
No, I'd welcome him as our manager. I just don't know exactly what advice he would be able to offer on an appointment at Ipswich Town?
