Looks very strong,I'm looking forward to seeing how this teams plays. I will have a punt on a 3-1 win with Cisse scoring 1st http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/24/newcastle-shola-sammy-ameobi-brugge
If correct, it looks an exciting line up. Sammy has been chomping at the bit and has cut an unhappy figure on the bench at times as others have gone on ahead of him. I noted he was seriously pissed off with Pards when he'd been told to warm up and get stripped the other week, only for Pards to change his mind and send on someone else. Its another opportunity for Fergie to make his mark but I think we all rate him highly. Jonas showed his value down that side again on Sunday though and hopefully that will kick start his season. Fergie playing left back is no problem even if not his preferred role, and that flexibility will see him afforded more opportunities as time roles on. I like the midfield three. Hopefully the opposition plus having Bigismalls and Cheik alongside will afford Anita a little more time to show what he is about.
I agree and looking at that lineup it's a team we may have to put out some week and it wouldn't worry me
Be good to see the young lads get a run out will be watching Fergie especially tonight and Anita, like Wp says hopefully he can give a good showing tonight, only thing i would say is the middle 3 look very defensive minded players so we will have to rely on the wing backs bombing it up and down the touch lines and putting in some good balls for Papiss and Shola tonight.
I think that is the reason for it. He wants the full back getting forward and combined with three up top, is hoping the midfield three can shut down any counter attacks into the gaps. Simpson is looking a lot better going forward this season and Fergie has natural attacking instincts. Cisse and Shola will thrive on some crosses into the mix.
Anyone read the piece with Bigismalls in todays Journal? Quality interview and once again he just comes across so well. My favourite bit though: "Cheick calls me his son, but what kind of dad is he?" Bigirimana joked, "Cheick is a crazy guy, but a great player and it is great to be playing with him. He is tough on the training pitch. We get on really well. Cabaye as well, they give me advice." I love that Tiote has proclaimed himself his father!
Wow, fairly aggressive midfield with Bigi, Mr-T and Anita in there. Looks a good strong side and should be able to do a job for us. Brugge are a good side but apparently have been leaking sloppy goals of late so if we can take the chances when they come and be solid in midfield with the same attitude on the pitch as the Mackem and Bordeaux matches then we should come away comfortable winner.....and give us a very good platform to progress without needing to risk any big players in order to qualify (and hopefully get more pitch time for some up and coming future stars like Campbell and Sami Ameobi). Would be good to see the likes of Marveaux and Amalfitano come on and put in a good performance given they have all but dropped off the radar of late.
Different side in the Mail Harper. Simpson, Perch, Williamson, Ferguson, Obertan, Tiote, Cabaye, Jonas. Shola, Cisse, Sammy. Personally can't see him risking Cabaye and think he should give Saylor a run out due to lack of pitch time.
Well that line up would give is a good chance... Mainly because we'd have 12 ppl on the pitch! Good ol daily mail. I fancy obertan to play but otherwise guardian one most feasible.
If that team is correct then Marveaux (if fit) is fighting to save his toon career already. For me he looks a talented player, but far too lightweight for then prem, I personally think we should sell him in Jan if 2-3 million is offered. I'm also confused about Amalfiltano, at 23 he's hardly a kid and he barely makes our bench, can seen him being the next Marveaux.
It's a bit **** we went out of the League cup at the first time of asking (more due to the ****ty draw). We could have given our fringe lads even more time. But I think Pards is stepping it up a bit in the Europa League
I'm told both Alfie and Marv were excellent for the reserves in the 5-1 win over Stoke. Saying that Xisco scored a hat trick.................... Adam Campbell supposedly still stole the show and was the best player on the pitch. My main concerns from what I've seen so far with Marv and Alfie are as follows: Marv - Looked quick on footage I've seen in France and when he first arrived. These groin problems seem to have eeked away that explosive pace. When you are that lightweight that is a problem. He clearly has a footballing brain and a wand of a left peg but I'm not sure he'll ever cope with the demands of the PL. Alfie - Painfully slow from what I've seen. Very few players without pace can play in wide areas in the PL. I see his future being in the centre of the pitch as a 2nd striker or attacking midfielder. That restricts his options in getting a start. Pardew clearly thinks both have work to do to make the grade if they can't get past the young players.
Agree with that. I always saw Amouthful as a back-up to Cabaye in our old 4-3-3 formation, don't think he has the pace or 'impact' to be a good Prem winger
I think Milner is the best example I can think of. Mankini moved him inside straight away as did O'Neill at Villa.
Milner though has the advantage of being a great crosser, and being excellent with both feet. If there's one thing I hate, its really one footed players Barton was similar when he was here
